UNICHIP LAUNCHES PERFORMANCE UPGRADE FOR SUBARU IMPREZA 2.0 DIESEL

080310unic.jpgUnichip Europe is delighted to announce the launch of a new performance enhancing plug and play ‘U-Connect’ piggy back Unichip upgrade for the 4wd 148bhp Subaru Impreza 2.0 Diesel.

Consisting of a specially premapped version of the renowned piggy back ECU, the Unichip enables subtle electronic tweaks to the Impreza’s fuelling and boost settings to enhance all round performance without compromising on economy or reliability.

Designed as a DIY fitment thanks to its high quality plug and play ‘U-Connect’ wiring loom, the Unichip can be fitted (and removed) in minutes. It is electronically ‘invisible’ to main dealers during servicing and can only be remapped by a Unichip agent.

Extensive rolling road testing has proven that the ‘Unichipped’ 2.0 Impreza Diesel gains an impressive 17bhp and 36lb.ft of torque over the standard car, producing a total of 168bhp allied to a mighty 292lb.ft of torque at just 2500rpm.

This extra performance offers significantly improved driver enjoyment and effortless overtaking, making every journey – long or short – a real pleasure. But this extra performance doesn’t impact on the Impreza’s thirst, as real world testing has proven that economy is unaffected by the Unichip U-Connect package, with drivers reporting a 5-10% consumption improvement compared to standard.

Priced at just £465.30 including VAT @ 17.5% and carrying part number PPSUB11.0, the Unichip U-Connect package is easily installed in minutes and is available now directly from Unichip Europe.

AMAZING DRAGSTERS HEAD TO RACE RETRO

080310racer.jpgTwo amazing dragsters – including the first one built in the UK – are appearing at this year’s Race Retro, held at Stoneleigh Park from 12th to 14th March.

The Allard dragster was the brainchild of South London car-maker Sydney Allard, who had made his name building sports cars powered by American Ford and Cadillac V8 engines during the 1950s. By the early ‘60s drag racing had a massive following in the USA and it was inevitable the sport would cross the pond.

Allard recognized this and started planning the car that’s on show in 1960. He used a Chrysler Hemi V8 fitted with a GMC supercharger, clothed in a lightweight, streamlined body.
