Inspired by the Ducati Streetfighter 848, the “streetfighter yellow” colour of the SLK 55 AMG ensures an exciting appearance from all angles: the exceptional paint finish is guaranteed to provide a high level of appeal. If there is sufficient demand, the special colour variant could also be made available as an individual optional extra from the AMG Performance Studio. The overall look is also perfectly complemented by the interior of the SLK 55 AMG: the contrasting yellow stitching creates a striking effect against the black nappa leather appointments, and is to be found on the door centre panels, beltlines, armrests, leather-covered roll-over bars, dashboard, the shift lever gaiter and also the AMG Performance steering wheel. Yellow illuminated AMG door sill panels featuring LED technology round off the striking effect of the interior.

The portfolio of the AMG Performance Studio ranges from special paintwork and leather appointments, through to technical solutions and extensive body modifications. The stylish vehicle upgrades are undertaken to a high level of hand-crafted perfection in accordance with individual customer requirements, while at the same time also meeting the highest safety and quality standards typical of Mercedes-Benz.

SLK 55 AMG: the most powerful SLK of all time

The Mercedes-Benz SLK 55 AMG and the Ducati Streetfighter 848 complement each other not only visually but also technically. Both models are the perfect embodiment of distinctive driving dynamics, expressive design and intense driving pleasure.

The SLK 55 AMG is the most powerful SLK of all time. Its newly developed AMG 5.5-litre naturally aspirated V8 engine with cylinder shut-off system combines ultimate performance with the lowest possible consumption levels. With a maximum output of 422 hp and maximum toque of 540 Nm, the SLK 55 AMG outperforms all of its direct competitors. Its fuel returns 33.6 mpg on the combind cycle and CO2 emissions of 195 grams per kilometre are an improvement of 30 percent over that of its predecessor. The SLK 55 AMG accelerates from 0-62 mph in just 4.6 seconds, and reaches a top speed of 155 mph (electronically limited). High levels of driving dynamics are ensured thanks to the AMG sports suspension with Direct-Steer system, Torque Vectoring Brakes and 3-stage ESP®, as well as the AMG high-performance braking system.

Forming part of the third-generation of the SLK, the new top-of-the range AMG model already demonstrates its individuality even at first glance: distinctive AMG light-alloy wheels, specific AMG bodystyling with AMG spoiler lip and two chrome-plated twin tailpipes at the rear complement the classic roadster proportions, while adding a markedly athletic touch. The expressive design of the SLK 55 AMG is both eye-catching and unmistakable.

Ducati Streetfighter 848: superior competitor – ultimate fighter

The new Ducati Streetfighter 848 provides unbridled biking pleasure in its purest form, while combining innovative technology with an outstanding appearance: a revised 848 Testastretta 11° engine with 132 hp and an exciting 93.5 Nm of torque as well as a modified frame geometry help to guarantee safe, agile handling. This is supported by the smooth, easy-to-manage power delivery of the engine, revised ergonomics and a specially tuned traction control (DTC) system. The features of the new Streetfighter are rounded off in visual terms by the unique Ducati styling. The Streetfighter 848 is guaranteed to cause a sensation, whether on the road or on the race track.

It was no surprise therefore when, true to its name, the Ducati Streetfighter scored an immediate knock-out on entering the ring for the first time at the EICMA show in 2008 in Milan. The impression which it left among the international press and public on its first appearance meant it was not only able to win the show’s “Most Beautiful Bike” award, but it also raised the bar for powerful naked bikes even higher by becoming the new benchmark on the market.

In addition to the colour variant in traditional red with red frame, the new Streetfighter 848 is also available in yellow with frame in Racing Black. The Dark Stealth colour variant, meanwhile, with frame in Racing Black underscores the fierce attitude of the Streetfighter. With the exciting new Streetfighter 848, Ducati has succeeded in combining state-of-the-art technology and skeletal styling in a contemporary design.

The cooperation agreement between AMG and Ducati was signed in November 2010

Visible signs of the cooperation agreement between Mercedes-AMG and Ducati, which was signed at the Los Angeles Motor Show in November 2010, include various marketing activities as well as joint appearances at shows and customer events. In the AMG core markets of the US, China, Canada, France, Italy, Germany, Australia, Great Britain and Switzerland, the announcement of the cooperation was very soon followed by the establishment of close links at market level.

The first result of the intensive exchange of ideas between the designers and engineers from Affalterbach and Bologna was the joint presentation of the CLS 63 AMG and the Ducati Diavel AMG Special Edition at the 64th International Motor Show in Frankfurt am Main.

AMG has been the “Official Car Partner” of the Ducati MotoGP team since the start of the 2011 MotoGP season. The AMG logo appears not only on the motorcycles and racing overalls of Ducati works drivers Nicky Hayden and Valentino Rossi, but also on the official teamwear and in the Ducati Lounge. Furthermore, as an additional outcome of the cooperation agreement, the Ducati fleet of vehicles is being gradually switched over to Mercedes-Benz vehicles.

Ducati will attend this year’s Motorcycle Live at the NEC with the unveiling of a new model that is sure to steal the show. In 2009, the Multistrada stunned visitors with its technology and innovation, in 2010 the Diavel wowed the crowds by redefining and reinventing the cruiser class and now this year Motorcycle Live will play host to the new 1199 Panigale spearheading the most impressive model range in Ducati’s history.

Although the 1199 Panigale will no doubt dominate the headlines, the Ducati stand, more than ever, has something for everyone. The Diavel, MCN’s machine of the year, has an undoubted presence and those drawn to this award winning and acclaimed bike will be able to see for the first time the Diavel Cromo and the special edition Diavel AMG. The Multistrada, now firmly established in the market place, will show off its latest family member – the Pikes Peak Special Edition in celebration of its recent successes at this famous hill climb in Colorado. The Multistrada 1200S Touring is also now available in a new Titanium colour for 2012.

The Streetfighter range sees the introduction of the new 848 model with new 848 Testastretta 11° engine providing user-friendliness with a smooth and flexible power delivery. The Streetfighter 848 also has enhanced geometry for the chassis that provides confidence-inspiring agility, revised ergonomics and Ducati Traction Control.

The Hypermotard range remains largely unchanged other than the addition of the new 1100 EVO SP Corse Edition with full red, white and black Ducati Corse official colours. The iconic Monster range has some minor changes and all models will be on display on the Ducati stand.

The 1199 Panigale is not the only addition to the Superbike range. 2012 sees the arrival of the stunning 848EVO Corse Special Edition with Ducati Traction Control, Ducati Quick Shift, Öhlins rear suspension and 330mm brake discs all stylishly delivered in Ducati Corse official colours.

Lastly we come to the 1199 Panigale which has so many innovative features that visitors to the stand could spend many hours just discovering the detail of the most advanced Superbike ever seen at Motorcycle Live.

The completely new Superquadro engine, so called because of its massively over-square bore and stroke ratio, has increased power to an absolute production twin-cylinder milestone of astonishing 195hp and torque to 98.1 lb-ft (13.5kgm). To deliver the target weight saving, the engine now becomes an integral part of an innovative monocoque chassis and combines to deliver its 195hp from 164kg creating the highest production motorcycle power-to-weight and torque-to-weight ratios in the world. With the click of a button the Ducati’s Riding Modes deliver performance with enhanced rider confidence by combining seven class-leading technologies. The latest-generation sports ABS system, Ducati Traction Control (DTC), Ducati Electronic Suspension (DES), Ducati Quick-Shift (DQS), Ducati’s new race-derived Engine Brake Control (EBC) and Ride-by-Wire (RbW) are now all programmed into seamless, electronic rider assistance. Even the world’s most advanced LCD dashboard with the full colour Thin Film Transistor (TFT) display changes to suit the rider’s environment.

Just weeks away from the unveiling of Ducati’s new 1199 Panigale Superbike at the EICMA International Motorcycle Show in Milan (10-13 November) and following the recent release and launch of the brand new Streetfighter 848, Ducati now reveal even more details of next year’s range.

Having proved its innovative concept and established itself as a new industry benchmark, the award-winning Ducati Multistrada family moves into 2012 as the company’s top-selling motorcycle and with the confident range of Multistrada 1200, 1200 S Sport, 1200 S Sport Pikes Peak Special Edition and 1200 S Touring. While all 2012 models will have revised seats with comfort-enhancing increased rider’s seat length front and rear, the Multistrada 1200 S Touring will also be offered in a brand new “race titanium matte” colour scheme with “racing black” frame. The new colour scheme is in addition to the currently available red and arctic white.

Combining a new and brilliantly engineered 848 Testastretta 11° engine with the enhanced geometry of a chassis that provides confidence-inspiring agility, the Streetfighter 848 has enriched its user-friendliness with a smooth and flexible power delivery, revised ergonomics and Ducati Traction Control.

The Ducati Streetfighter scored a round one knock-out when it entered the ring for the first time at the Milan show back in November 2008, winning the ‘Most Beautiful Bike’ award and raising the bar for extreme nakeds. Its asphalt-ripping reputation became the desire of sport naked connoisseurs throughout the world and the Streetfighter 848 will now widen that appeal even further with enhanced usability.

Available from November 2011 onwards, the new fighter is dressed in red for Ducati traditionalists, while yellow makes a return for mid-range purists and “dark stealth” provides a matte-black reminder of the Streetfighter’s aggressive image.

Ducati and Mercedes AMG have proudly announced that the first public showing of the Ducati Diavel AMG Special Edition will be at the 64th International Motor Show in Frankfurt, Germany from 15-25 September. The 2012 flagship model of the Diavel family is a tribute to the AMG luxury-sport brand and is intended for passionate connoisseurs of technology, engineering detail and exclusive style.

Ducati’s unique cooperation with Mercedes AMG was first announced at the 2010 Los Angeles Motor Show with a sponsorship agreement for the Ducati MotoGP Team which perfectly demonstrated the shared brand values of high performance, motorsport and excitement. The association soon developed into a rich strategy of co-marketing activities and the Diavel AMG Special Edition now represents the first “co-inspired” model, elegantly combining distinctive styling features from both famous marques.

Based upon the Diavel Carbon, the Diavel AMG Special Edition features AMG’s signature 5-spoke wheel styling, carbon fibre lateral radiator grills with aluminium trim, AMG-style sport exhaust system with engraved end-caps and AMG-style horizontally ribbed seat upholstered in Alcantara®. The model’s incredible attention to performance detail also ensures that every engine has its Desmodromic cam-timing set by hand and authenticated with the name of the engine technician engraved on the left-side engine casing. Further underlining the model’s exclusivity, each motorcycle will have a numbered plaque on the fuel tank.

The award-winning Ducati Diavel has had massive first-year success for the Italian motorcycle manufacturer, its bold design merging the worlds of power and style with absolute precision to set a new industry standard for the segment. Ducati’s awesome Testastretta 11° engine combined with their famous chassis technology and a specially engineered 240 section rear tyre delivers mind-blowing performance balanced with user-friendly comfort and safety-enhancing electronics.

Hand-built – as with all Ducati motorcycles – the exclusive new Diavel AMG Special Edition is dressed in matte black carbon fibre bodywork with AMG’s very own “Diamond White Bright” stripe and frame colour contrasted with black wheels. The special edition wheels, seat and exhaust end-caps are all AMG branded while “AMG” is also laser-engraved into the air-duct panels either side of the fuel tank. The Ducati Diavel AMG Special Edition and exclusively designed leather jacket and helmet apparel will be available in early 2012, with orders opening to coincide with the first public showing at the Motor Show in Frankfurt, Germany.

Ducati UK is to auction the 1198 Valentino Rossi rode recently at Silverstone during the official launch of the new Silverstone Wing, with a donation from the sale being made to motorcycling’s favourite charity, Riders for Health.

On 17 May 2011, Valentino Rossi joined a host of motorsport champions from the past and present in an inauguration ceremony to open Silverstone’s state-of-the-art new Pit, Paddock and Conference complex – The Silverstone Wing. After the ceremony, Rossi, who missed riding at the British Moto GP last year due to injury, used the occasion to put in some practice laps on board a specially prepared 1198 SP.

Unfortunately the bike soon developed technical problems and Ducati UK stepped in to supply a standard road registered 1198. The bike (still with its licence plate, indicators and mirrors attached) is normally used for customer demonstration rides but Rossi was able to complete 30 laps on the 1198 to familiarise himself with the Silverstone circuit ahead of the AirAsia British MotoGP.

Rossi signed the 1198 as a thank you to Ducati UK and now the bike will auctioned at Silverstone auctions to help raise money for Riders for Health. The bike will be displayed at the Riders for Health Day of Champions on Thursday 9 June and then be moved to the auction on Saturday 11 June.

This is a unique chance to own a piece of Ducati history and Rossi memorabilia. It will attract collectors, bike and race enthusiasts alike and in turn will raise money for a worthwhile cause. The money donated by Ducati UK will help Riders for Health to mobilise health workers with reliable motorcycles and train them in basic maintenance so that they are able to provide a regular health care to even very remote villages. To find out more about the work of Riders for Health, visit www.riders.org.

The auction takes place on Saturday 11th June at Silverstone Circuit at 5.30pm and will be held at the new The Wing building and pit complex during the MotoGP race weekend.

If you cannot attend the auction telephone and commission bids are being accepted.

Valentino Rossi joined a host of motorsport champions from the past and present in an inauguration ceremony to open the circuit’s state-of-the-art new Pit, Paddock and Conference complex – The Silverstone Wing.

The Silverstone Wing provides a world-class facility for teams, officials and spectators alike, including 41 garages, a race control building, a podium, media centre, hospitality and VIP spectator zones and it will host the seventh round of the MotoGP world championship on June 12.

Rossi, who missed riding at Silverstone last year due to injury, used the occasion to put in some practice laps on board a World Superbike 1198. However the bike soon had to return to the garage due to electronics problems and the team immediately called upon Ducati UK to help. A standard 1198 street bike borrowed from the Ducati UK roadshow fleet was whisked down to the new pit complex and the 1198 complete with license plate and mirrors and helped Valentino to put in some 30 laps of Silverstone’s MotoGP Circuit.

“I really had fun,” said Valentino Rossi before leaving for Italy. “After a few laps with the 1198 Superbike, we had a problem with the electronics and decided to use the 1198 street bike that Ducati’s UK affiliate rushed to us. I really liked riding that bike here. The track is nice—difficult and very technical. It makes you work hard because there are very fast sections where having the right trajectory is important, and others that are very narrow where you have to have good grip under acceleration. The first turn is completely blind, and you must hold a very precise line, and in general the entire first section is really great, definitely the part I like most. In short, I enjoyed it, especially because there were many drivers and riders who have great histories in motorsports, like John Surtees, who told me that he raced here in the ’50s. I wasn’t following racing then,” joked the Italian, “but he was great.”

Valentino Rossi and the Ducati team returns to Silverstone on June 12 for the UK round of MotoGP.

Ducati unveils the Multistrada 1200 S Pikes Peak Special Edition in celebration of Greg Tracy’s famous victory in the 2010 Pikes Peak International Hill Climb race in Colorado. The Special Edition underlines the race-bred heritage that exists deep inside every Ducati and follows a massive first year success for the award-winning Multistrada 1200, which set a new industry benchmark in motorcycle technology with the four-bikes-in-one concept.

The Pikes Peak Special Edition is specially dressed in stunning replica Ducati Corse-style paint scheme with passenger foot-peg hangers and engine guard anodised in black finish and sport red pin-striping on the wheels. In addition to the original equipment silencer and screen the Pikes Peak Special Edition arrives with an EU approved Ducati Performance carbon fibre silencer by Termignoni and a race-derived low screen in carbon fibre. A Ducati Performance carbon fibre front mudguard, and custom made seat detailed with red stitching complete an enhanced specification well worthy of a race-winning replica.

Winning the highly challenging and multi-surface Pikes Peak race, which climbs a mountain track through 1,438 metres of altitude change, further underlined the exceptional all-terrains versatility of the Ducati Multistrada by demonstrating how its four different Riding Modes immediately adapt the motorcycle to any environment. Sport, Touring, Urban and Enduro Riding Modes are made selectable by the simple click of a button, instantly transforming the Multistrada’s suspension, power output and traction control settings electronically, a feature that Greg Tracy will use again in 2011.

In conjunction with the launch of this striking new model, Ducati is pleased to announce its entry in the 2011 Pikes Peak event, featuring last year’s winning line-up of Greg Tracy and Alexander Smith. Preparations are already underway for the title defence in June, when Ducati will be fighting for the fastest time up the mountain.

The Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, or “Race to the Clouds”, is situated in a range of the Rocky Mountains, 16km west of Colorado Springs and races 20km from a start line altitude of 2,862 metres to a finish line at 4,300. First held in 1916, the event is now on the international calendar of the FIA in addition to holding seven motorcycle categories from 250-1200cc.

The early arrival model year 2012 Multistrada 1200 S Pikes Peak Special Edition will be available from May 2011 onwards at an SRP of £16,750.

New Hayden and Rossi Monster Art “GP Replica” schemes at the “Ducati MotoGP Night”

As final preparations for the massive “Ducati MotoGP Night” are made ready for the city-centre event on the evening of Friday, 4 March, Ducati reveal two new Monster Art colour schemes dedicated to Nicky Hayden and Valentino Rossi.

Starting from early evening, the huge event promises a packed program of entertainment with a concert and star-studded line-up of VIPs joining in the Ducati party until the riders appear on stage with the Desmosedici GP11 at 9pm. The celebration, in Bologna’s Piazza Maggiore, is intended to be a passionate send-off to the Ducati Marlboro Team just prior to their first race of the year in Qatar later this month, and as the two factory riders appear on stage to greet an expected 30,000 fans, the new Monster Art GP Replica schemes will also be presented.

First introduced in 2009, the innovative Monster Art project offered an additional range of colours to the standard factory options with a collection called “Colour Therapy”, while in 2010 the introduction of the “Logomania” collection celebrated 50 years of historic Ducati logo styles.

Changing the colour and character of any model in the Monster line-up in just 10 minutes is the genius of the Monster Art program, and a feature that passionately supports the Monster culture of customisation. Consisting of tank panels, micro-bikini fairing, single-seat cover and front mudguard, the kits have now become a modern canvas in the world of motorcycle art and a unique method of Monster personalisation.

Fast-forward to 2011, the pre-season “Ducati MotoGP Night” and the roll-out of two new GP Replica Monster Art schemes dedicated to factory riders, Nicky “The Kentucky Kid” Hayden and Valentino “The Doctor” Rossi. The new kits have been inspired by the livery of the Desmosedici GP11, which will power both riders this year, with a white design presented on a background of red. Each GP Replica scheme is decorated with the riders’ respective logos and further personalised with Rossi’s signature flash of fluorescent yellow and famous racing number “46” and Hayden’s starred number “69”.

Both colour schemes are available as suitable accessories for the 696, 796, 1100 and 1100 S Monsters as well as the brand new Monster 1100EVO and will be available as original colours on new Ducati Monsters in participating countries.

These colour schemes will be available from UK Ducati dealers from May at a retail price of £552.34 excluding VAT.

Ducati UK visit this week’s London Motorcycle Show with its mouth watering collection of 2011 models. Heading the collection is undoubtedly the new Diavel making its London show debut shortly before its international launch.

The Diavel with its commanding presence, stunning looks and latest in Ducati technology including ABS, Ducati Traction Control, Ducati Riding Modes and a Superbike-derived Testastretta 11° engine will be the main draw for many visitors to the show.

The Diavel leads a range of new and updated models introduced for this model year. These include the 1198SP now with Ducati Traction Control (DTC), Ducati Quick Shift (DQS), Ohlins TTX rear suspension, slipper clutch and aluminium fuel tank. The 1198 also benefits from updates; Traction Control, Ducati Data Aanalyser and Quick Shifter are all fitted as standard equipment. The 848 EVO joins this impressive and improved Superbike range, now boasting 140hp and is equipped with Brembo Monobloc calipers and steering damper. The Evo also sees a new additional paint scheme in stunning arctic white livery with contrasting red wheels and red frame.

The 848 Evo will also be on display in race livery to promote the 2011 848 Challenge. This one-make Championship is a support series for The British Superbike Championship, visiting five BSB circuits, one New Era round at Castle Combe and two overseas rounds at Assen and Monza. The Championship has attracted huge interest already with 22 riders confirmed with three months still to go before the first flag drops at Brands Hatch on the 25th April.

The Monster family welcomes the new 1100 Evo along with colour schemes and ergomoic updates to current members of Ducati’s naked icon.

The Monster 1100 Evo takes its name from the Desmodue Evoluzione engine, which now delivers a milestone 100hp. The 1100EVO boasts a fully redesigned exhaust system, comfort-enhancing new seat and 20mm bar-riser, Marzocchi front suspension, refined tail-end, bold Corse style graphics and the new Ducati Safety Pack (DSP) consisting of ABS and new 4-level Ducati Traction Control. The Monster 1100 Evo will be available from April and is priced at a stunning £8,995.

The entry level 696 gets new 43mm Marzocchi forks, 20mm higher handlebars and a new rear sub-frame designed to accept the user-friendly passenger grab-rail kit and two new colour schemes of “dark stealth” and “stone white”. The Monster 796 also adopts Marzocchi front suspension.

The full 2011 model range will be on display at the London Excel venue Stand N200 from the 3rd February to the 6th February.

Having grabbed global attention at the show, the Italian manufacturer collected instant feed-back from thousands of passionate motorcyclists viewing the bike for the first time and now respond immediately with an update to the Diavel colour options.

While the Diavel Carbon in “red carbon” (gloss red over matte carbon weave) with red frame and “black carbon” (both gloss and matte carbon weave) with black frame, was overwhelmingly loved alongside the Diavel in traditional Ducati Red, Ducati’s response now replaces the originally presented pearl white with a brand new diamond black with black frame. The new scheme will be further enhanced with black anodised headlamp body and lateral air intakes.

The new colour has already been introduced to production and will be available alongside the entire Diavel range in February next year.

“I am very pleased that we are able to announce our strategic cooperation with Ducati today. AMG and Ducati ideally complement each other, as both companies share the same values: racing as the driving passion, and high performance plus exclusivity as the central brand messages of both AMG and Ducati. This long-term cooperation will help us to jointly access new customer groups,” said Ola Källenius, CEO of Mercedes-AMG GmbH.

“I am especially proud to have AMG as one of our sponsors for the Moto GP team. I am also very pleased that our joint marketing activities are well under way. In AMG we have found a partner who perfectly reflects our brand values of high performance, motorsport, excitement and our sense of unmistakable style and design,” said Gabriele del Torchio, President and CEO of Ducati Motor Holding S.p.A.

The first visible results of the cooperation between AMG and Ducati will be joint marketing and sponsoring activities. AMG will support the Ducati MotoGP team as an Official Car Partner from 2011, for example. During selected AMG events, participants will be able to take test drives with Ducati motorcycles, and Ducati customers will similarly have the opportunity to familiarise themselves with the latest AMG high-performance cars at events.

Joint events are planned for the members of the AMG Private Lounge, in which more than 13,000 AMG customers worldwide are registered.

The partners are currently examining the further activities and strategic steps they might undertake together in the near future.

The unveiling of these two models in Milan launches the Italian manufacturer’s proud exhibition of new models at EICMA’s 68th Milan International Motorcycle Show held at the Fiera Rho from 4-7 November.

Before the unveiling and detailing of Ducati’s new models, Gabriele Del Torchio, President of Ducati Motor Holding, took the opportunity to announce positive commercial results with further confirmation of the Italian manufacturer’s stable footing during a difficult period for the industry:

“2010 has been a year of great opportunity for Ducati and despite the difficult market environment, we have seen our market share double in the last three years, from 4.3% to 8.6%. By the end of 2010 we expect a sales growth of 6% compared to last year, a growth that is testimony to Ducati’s capacity to react, even during a contraction in the market. Essentially, we owe this to the creation of specific strategies within our 2007-2010 industrial plan. We continue to base the pillars of our strategy on loyalty to our mission: To be specialists and segment leaders in the sport bike sector, while working with determination on the development of highly innovative new products. This mission enables us to expand into new market segments like the Diavel, which we unveil here at EICMA.”

Mr. Del Torchio went on to explain: “Engineering quality and excitement quality are key elements of our development process. The engineering quality of our product has grown significantly over the last three years and now positions us at the apex of European industry. The excellent excitement quality, increasingly important in this competitive environment, is demonstrated by the unmistakable Italian style of our bikes and by their performance which delivers enhanced enjoyment and safety for our customers, whether on the road or the track.”

General Manager of Ducati Motor Holding, Claudio Domenicali, had the pleasure of introducing the big news of Ducati’s model year 2011 range:

“We are here at EICMA this week with a series of important innovations that are totally in line with our strategic industrial plan and the Diavel is, without doubt, the most exciting innovation in our 2011 line-up because it represents a new concept of motorcycle. It is a naked because it is essential, light and agile; a cruiser because it is imposing and also comfortable with a passenger; and a sports bike because it has a powerful heart, muscles, and levels of performance that take your breath away.”

“Until now,” Mr. Domenicali continued, “no segment has ever captured these characteristics in just one bike. We are extremely satisfied with the Diavel, it represents the very concept of ‘sport’ and celebrates all that Ducati has achieved in recent years. If the Multistrada 1200 represents the perfect synthesis between functionality and performance, the Diavel creates a new interpretation of performance, this time combined with technology and design. The new Monster 1100EVO and 848EVO, in addition to many other technical and style updates in the range, completes the 2011 range of which we are particularly proud.”

The centre of attention at Ducati’s Press Conference is undoubtedly the Ducati Diavel, hailed as the new shape of power and style. The innovative new Diavel combines decades of twin-cylinder heritage and Italian style with a bold, world-beating technical confidence strong enough to extend the boundaries of motorcycle design. Custom shop beauty, state-of-the-art technology, innovative design and extraordinary riding pleasure have been masterfully blended into the Diavel, a motorcycle destined to shape the future.

Built to have a commanding presence, though lightweight and agile like all Ducatis, the Diavel is designed to take the man-motorcycle relationship to the next level in absolute comfort. For connoisseurs of technology, ABS, Ducati Traction Control and Ducati Riding Modes deliver a confidence-inspiring sophistication while stunning looks, 162hp and 207kg (456lb) of authentic Ducati performance drives a comfortable new sport lifestyle. Merging the worlds of power and style has been achieved with convincing precision. A specially engineered 240 section rear tyre combined with famous Ducati chassis technology serves up mind-blowing handling and lean angles, whether carving through curves or just riding out for a night on the town.

The latest ground-breaking Ducati is available in two versions: The brand new Diavel £12,995 and the flagship Diavel Carbon £15,495 (red version £15,895) with a character-forming mix of aesthetic and performance components from carbon fibre bodywork to forged and specially machined Marchesini wheels. The Diavel Carbon will be available in the UK from January 2011.

The long list of updates to the Monster family is now highlighted by the arrival of the Monster 1100EVO, which further enhances the Monster family’s defining concepts of functionality, style and sport with a full evolution of the flagship model. Taking its name from the Desmodue Evoluzione engine, which now delivers a milestone 100hp, the 1100EVO rolls out with a fully redesigned exhaust system, comfort-enhancing new seat and 20mm bar-riser, Marzocchi front suspension, refined tail-end, bold Corse-style graphics and the new Ducati Safety Pack (DSP) consisting of ABS and new 4-level Ducati Traction Control (DTC).

The new 1100EVO jewel of the Monster family will stand alongside the 2011 Monster range of 696 and 796, enhanced with revised ergonomics, Marzocchi front suspension and new sub-frame ready for the Ducati Performance grab-rail accessory, in addition to the 696’s new dark stealth and stone white colour schemes. The Monster 1100 EVO will be available from April 2011, price to be confirmed.

The award-winning and highly successful Ducati Multistrada 1200 moves into 2011 having proved its innovative concept and established itself as a new industry benchmark. Its ground-breaking design and unprecedented technology grabbed headlines all over the world since its arrival in March 2010 and the Multistrada’s 2011 entry without modification confirms the model’s high quality engineering.

Described as “sport bike perfection”, the 2011 Superbike model line-up presents the exciting new 848EVO with 140hp, Brembo Monobloc callipers, steering damper and stunning new arctic white silk colour scheme with red frame and red wheels and dark stealth finish with black frame and black wheels. The 1198 now comes equipped with Ducati Traction Control (DTC), Ducati Quick Shifter (DQS) and Ducati Data Analyser (DDA) as standard equipment while the brand new, track-ready 1198 SP rolls out with DTC, DQS, DDA, Ohlins TTX rear suspension, slipper clutch and lightweight aluminium fuel tank.

The application of DTC to the standard model 1198 underlines Ducati’s intention to broaden the use of tried and tested race-derived electronics to its high-powered range, while the introduction of DQS to the 1198 and 1198 SP marks the first time in history that “quick-shift” electronics have been fitted to a production Ducati.

For 2011, Ducati’s aggressive naked with “the soul of a Superbike and the attitude of a fighter” arrives full of aesthetic updates. The Streetfighter gets a new arctic white colour scheme, while the Streetfighter S gets a matching red Trellis frame for the red version and a racing black frame for the new diamond black. Both Streetfighter models get radiator covers in a new subtle black finish and both colour schemes of the ‘S’ now have black wheels.

Having been told by organisers that Ducati will no longer be given the ability to use even larger engines, use special parts not available to other teams, and that other manufacturers machines will not be restricted to allow Ducati to win, they have spat out the dummy and gone home.

Never mind.

Ducati’s spin on their decision follows:

Borgo Panigale (Bologna – Italy), 27 August 2010 - Ducati, having participated with a factory team in every edition of the World Superbike Championship since it began in 1988, winning 16 Manufacturers’ world titles and 13 Riders’ world titles along the way, has decided to limit its participation to the supply of machines and support to private teams.

“This decision is part of a specific strategy made by Ducati, the aim being to further increase technological content in production models that will arrive on the market in the coming years. In order to achieve this objective, the company’s technical resources, until now engaged with the management of the factory Superbike team, will instead be dedicated to the development of the new generation of hypersport bikes, in both their homologated and Superbike race versions,” declared Gabriele Del Torchio, President and CEO of Ducati. “I would like to thank Nori and Michel, and all of the riders that have contributed to the great history of Ducati in Superbike, but above all the Ducati employees; it is their hard work and professionalism that has allowed us to achieve such important results. A big thank you also to all of the partners that have supported us, first and foremost Xerox of course. I would also like to acknowledge the Flammini brothers who have managed the championship for so long, and the FIM, the organization with which we have continuous, constructive relations.”

By making this important decision Ducati aims to increase the speed and efficiency with which it transfers advanced technological solutions, currently tested in the prototype championship, to the production series.

The task of testing innovative technical solutions in Superbike racing will therefore be entrusted to external teams in the coming years, teams that will have the chance to receive technical support from Ducati personnel. This choice will allow the teams to benefit from even more competitive machines and parts.

Despite the decision to interrupt its official participation in the World Superbike Championship, Ducati will continue to work, in collaboration with the championship organizers, other manufacturers and the FIM, to define a technical regulation aimed at containing costs.

Strong in the sporting spirit that has always allowed this manufacturer to compete, line-up against its rivals, and win, it is fundamental for Ducati to identify, together with the other interested parties, solutions that can guarantee the future of the championship in the medium-long term.

Recently the Superbike World Championship, according to the current regulations, has been interpreted as moving more towards competition between prototypes rather than for bikes derived from production machines. This has led to an increase in costs, both for the manufacturers and the teams participating in the championship. This picture does not correlate with the current worldwide economic situation, which has made the securing of sponsorship even more difficult. Ducati trusts that the work carried out by all parties will lead to improvement also in this area.

Revealed for the first time on DVD, the incredible history of Ducati told with rare movie footage, pictures and interviews from its creation in 1926 to the 2007 MotoGP World Championship title.

In close collaboration with “Strike Video” of Milan, Ducati worked with director, Angelo Barberi, to achieve the most complete and compelling account of their incredible heritage, and with so much exclusive material released for the very first time, the captivating ninety-minute movie reveals a fast-moving and exciting story.

From the innovative Ducati brothers and the birth of the “Cucciolo” to the unforgettable engineer Taglioni and the Desmodromic system. From victory in the Imola 200 to the production of the Scrambler and from Superbike dominance to debut in MotoGP, witnesses recount their personal experiences of a journey that is the story of a company, a view of Italian social history and the passion and genius that created the Ducati engines destined to write the history of motorcycling.

“This is a new way to tell the story,” Livio Lodi, curator of the Ducati Museum, proudly explains. “As if leafing through an old photo album or speaking with a wise, old relative, the story becomes a fascinating view not only of Ducati’s, but also of Italy’s history. For me, it is vitally important that we share this story with Ducati fans around the world.”

In the interest of rider comfort; the Monster 796 has adapted a comfortable new seat, higher handlebars and optional passenger grab handles to enable an optimum riding experience. Borrowed from the 1100 model, the Monster 796 features a single sided swingarm and four piston Brembo brakes. These features combine with an APTC slipper clutch, blackened foot rests, and new five spoke wheels to make the ultimate middleweight Monster.

Arriving alongside the latest Monster are the new ‘Monster Art’ body kits for all three members of the Monster family; giving riders the chance to accessorise and customise the look of their bikes with ten all-new color choices.

Monster lovers can ‘dress’ their bikes in as little as ten minutes, giving a new look to their two-wheeled beauty each day. The Monster panel kit includes tank covers, a mudguard, a micro-bikini fairing and seat cover- everything needed to change the colour of a Monster in rapid fashion.

The Monster family introduces the 796, an exciting addition to the line-up that combines the user-friendliness of the 696 with the sports character of the 1100. Delivering 87hp (64kW), a dry weight of just 167kg (368lb) and optional ABS, the stylish new Monster 796 returns the magic of mid-range to the Monster family.

The Monster 796 is fitted with the micro-bikini fairing and single seat cover as standard and features a new seat designed with a comfort-enhancing shape, further accentuated with stylish red stitching. Additional new features also include a rear sub-frame constructed ready to accept new accessory grab-handles designed to provide a confidence-inspiring grip for the passenger, while blending into the natural line of the tail-end.

The riding position has also been revised by reducing the seat height by a full 10mm (compared to the Monster 1100) to 800mm, whilst the handlebars have been raised by 20mm. These changes, together with the redesigned seat shape have improved posture and increased comfort. With the brand new Desmodue 796 engine at the heart of the machine, a single-sided swingarm and revised ergonomics, the Monster 796 perfectly balances lifestyle performance with everyday functionality to enhance the original Monster spirit.

The new Monster 796 comes in traditional Ducati red, new arctic white silk or diamond black silk. All three colours are set against a red Trellis frame and black wheels, which feature a new short-style red flash around the rim side that creates a full red stripe at speed.

Commenting on the launch, Tim Maccabee, Ducati UK MD said “The new 796 Monster is a welcome addition to the family and will be a great bike for people upgrading from a first bike 600 or looking to switch from a Sports 600 whilst wanting to retain style with plenty of real-world performance”.

Launched as an early entry model year 2011, the Monster 796 will be available in the UK from May 2010 onwards and will be priced at £6,995, with the ABS version at £7,695.

The Open Weekend gives the Ducati dealer network the opportunity to proudly present the stunning Ducati range that includes a whole host of new additions to the Ducati model line-up.

Many visitors to dealerships will no doubt be enticed by the new Multistrada 1200. Initial test reports have undoubtedly whetted the appetite of bikers across the UK as the new bike has received universal praise. Now the time has come for the general public to give their views as demonstrators arrive at dealerships. So far dealers have seen a huge demand for the bike, but there is still a chance to purchase a bike this summer and the further deposits are expected to be taken once customers have ridden the bike for the first time.

Other new bikes for 2010 include the Monster 696 ABS and Monster 1100 ABS, the updated Hypermotard 1100 Evo, the extreme Hypermotard Evo SP version and the versatile Hypermotard 796.

Both the Monster 696 and Hypermotard 796 take advantage of competitive service costs, 7,500 mile service intervals and are currently available at £99 per month APR 12.2% Typical.

The Superbike range continues to draw motorcyclists to the brand. The Sportsbike family has expanded to include the 1198S Corse and 1198R Corse limited edition which must be seen to be appreciated with their factory team-style aluminium fuel tank, Ducati Traction Control and special celebratory Ducati Corse livery. This is subject to the Ducati Corse Gear offer and includes a Ducati track day at Silverstone and invitation to a WSBK race.

The new 848 Dark has also just arrived at dealerships at a mouth-watering £9,995 and is also subject to the Ducati Corse Gear offer (Ducati Corse leather suit, Arai Chaser helmet, Ducati Corse gloves, Puma boots and Dainese-Ducati Back Protector).

The Streetfighter range continues to offer Ducati style with Superbike performance in naked form and is available through a 0% finance offer until the end of April.

New models arriving at showrooms include Superbikes such as the 848 Dark and 1198S Corse, the new Hypermotard Evo and Evo SP and the new 696 ABS and 1100 ABS Monsters.

The new 848 Dark is now available to buy at dealerships at a mouth-watering £9,995 and included in the price is the Ducati Corse Riding Gear Set (Ducati Corse leather suit, Arai Chaser helmet, Ducati Corse gloves, Puma boots and Dainese-Ducati Back Protector).

Also new to the Superbike range is the 1198S Corse limited edition which must be seen to be appreciated with its factory team-style aluminium fuel tank, Ducati Traction Control and a special celebratory Ducati Corse livery. This is also subject to the Ducati Corse Gear offer and includes a Ducati track day at Silverstone and invitation to a WSBK race.

The Hypermotard family expands for 2010 with the addition of the exciting new and enhanced Hypermotard 1100EVO and the extreme Hypermotard 1100EVO SP. Hot on the heels of the recently released lightweight Hypermotard 796 is the 1100 model that has evolved into a lighter (7kg – Evo, 11kg SP) and more powerful (5hp) bike than the original. The Hypermotard 1100EVO SP pushes the limits even further with a model intended to perform on the track as well as the street.

For the first time since its debut both the 696 and 1100 Monsters will be available with ABS (anti-lock braking system). The Monster 696 and 1100 have become extremely popular in the UK since they were launched in 2008 and now have been enhanced with this sophisticated ABS system.

The Multistrada 1200 is not due to arrive in dealerships until early April; however, a pre-production model is currently touring Ducati showrooms.

Doubling the mileage between valve clearance inspection has been made possible with the introduction of a new valve seat material combined with improved combustion efficiency and temperature management designed into the Multistrada’s new Testastretta 11° engine.

So called because of its minimised 11° of ‘valve overlap’ – the interval of crankshaft rotation during which both the intake and exhaust valves are open at the same time – the new Desmodromic power plant not only transforms the world championship-winning 1198 configuration into a super-smooth 150hp motor for sport touring, but also improves fuel efficiency, emissions and cost of scheduled maintenance.

First revealed at the Milan International Motorcycle Show in November 2009, the Ducati Multistrada 1200 combines innovative design and unprecedented technology to unleash a four-bikes-in-one concept. Sport, Touring, Urban and Enduro riding modes now enable a customisable riding experience separated by just one click.

The ground-breaking design makes instant adjustment to power and torque delivery in addition to electronic adjustment of suspension settings and traction control to transform the Multistrada 1200 to meet the rider’s needs, and not the other way around.
Arriving in Ducati showrooms from early 2010, the 189kg (417lb) Multistrada 1200 is offered with optional ABS, while the flagship Multistrada 1200 S presents ABS and Ducati Electronic Suspension by Öhlins as standard equipment. The 1200 S is available in ‘Sport edition’ with specific components in carbon fibre or ‘Touring edition’ with side luggage, heated grips and centre stand.

A long list of pre-orders for the Italian manufacturer’s latest masterpiece reflects the massive interest generated since its official unveiling, an interest now further enhanced by the added benefit of more ‘strada’ between major services.

The Ducati stand will showcase the full 2010 range including UK debuts for the Multistrada 1200 Touring, Hypermotard 1100 Evo, 848 Dark, 1198s Corse, Monster 696 ABS and Monster 1100 ABS.

The Multistrada 1200 Touring comes to the London show as part of a nationwide tour prior to its launch in March and has already provoked unprecedented interest with many dealers reporting prodigious amounts of forward orders.

The iconic Monster range will be represented by the Monster 696 and Monster 1100 which will both carry the ABS options in 2010. The Monster has always been an exceptionally popular bike in the Capital and is sure to attract large numbers of visitors to the stand.

The flagship Superbike range has expanded with the addition of the new 848 Dark and the exotic 1198S Corse and the updated 1198S while the Hypermotard family sees the biggest changes with three new models. There is the new lighter and more powerful Hypermotard Evo, the more extreme and track focused Evo SP and the Hypermotard 796 which offers a lower seat height and a smooth flexible engine for the urban environment.

A Ducati display would not be complete without a selection of the bikes that will compete in this year’s British Championships including Riders Racing who will contest BSB with Michael Rutter and Martin Jessop. Ducati will also display the British Superstock entry which will be launched at the show and an 848 race bike that will be part of the new 848 challenge debuting in 2010.

An added attraction to the stand will be Ducati UK’s premier clothing retailers Moto Icons who will be tempting visitors with a large selection of the stylish 2010 Apparel Collection.
