Introduction

The pinnacle of the Jaguar sporting range – the XKR-S – is now joined by a convertible which offers the same enticing blend of abilities, while offering driver and passenger a heightened connection with their surroundings.

The XKR-S Convertible embodies all the characteristics that have always defined legendary Jaguar GTs – explosive performance, involving handling, relaxed comfort and discreet luxury – while taking Jaguar into a new performance echelon. The new XKR-S model line-up sits at the pinnacle of the XK range, which now consists of XK, XKR and XKR-S derivatives in coupe and convertible format.

The XKR-S Convertible takes the raft of performance, dynamics, design and interior upgrades already introduced to much acclaim on its coupe sibling to create Jaguar’s fastest ever open-topped GT.

Adrian Hallmark, Jaguar Global Brand Director, says the new XKR-S Convertible represents the pinnacle of performance and glamour in motoring:

“There is nothing as liberating as life behind the wheel of an open-topped Jaguar and the new XKR-S Convertible takes the Jaguar GT experience to new heights.”

The building block for the car’s explosive performance is an uprated version of the 5.0-litre supercharged AJ-V8 engine, which produces 550PS (405kW) and 502lb/ft (680Nm) of torque. These figures represent a power increase of 8 percent and torque increase of 9 percent over the Jaguar XKR. Driving the rear wheels through a six-speed automatic gearbox with Active Differential, this propels the XKR-S Convertible to 60mph in 4.2 seconds (0-100km/h in 4.4 seconds) and on to an electronically limited top speed of 186mph (300km/h).

Underpinning this potent performance is a comprehensive package of suspension upgrades which refine the XK’s dynamic abilities still further, creating an intimate connection between the car, the driver and the road, enhanced still further in this open-topped GT.

The lightweight aluminium structure of the XK has huge torsional rigidity, allowing the fitment of suspension components such as a redesigned aluminium front steering knuckle and revised rear geometry, stiffer springs and dampers. Allied to lightweight forged wheels and recalibrated steering settings this has allowed Jaguar’s vehicle dynamics experts to create a supremely agile, connected driving experience with no loss in refinement.

Reflecting the car’s uprated dynamic abilities are interior and exterior styling changes. Externally the XKR-S Convertible is dramatically differentiated from other XK models with carefully calibrated aerodynamic aids that allow it to perform flawlessly at very high speeds.

This sense of drama is continued inside the car with Jaguar Performance seats that feature increased support for driver and passenger during high-speed cornering. The seats are finished in carbon leather and feature 16-way adjustment and heating while carbon is also used to trim the cabin and emphasise the car’s assertive nature.

Design

Extensive Computational Fluid Dynamics, wind tunnel and track work has resulted in the aerodynamic design changes applied to the XKR-S Convertible. These perform an essential function in maintaining stability in an open-topped car capable of speeds as high as 186mph (300km/h).

These aerodynamic design changes give the front of the car a dramatic and bold appearance. Vertical feature lines run down from the edges of the oval air intake into a new bumper design which incorporates a wider, lower air intake, a carbon fibre splitter and twin side nacelles. At the edges of the bumper, vertical panels channel air down the side of the car along new sills, which serve to both smooth the horizontal airflow and emphasise the 10mm reduction in ride height.

A unique rear wing with a carbon fibre inlay works in conjunction with a rear apron featuring a carbon fibre diffuser. The result is a reduction in overall lift of 26 percent and balanced aerodynamics front and rear to keep the car perfectly pinned to the road.

The exterior changes are highlighted by the application of gloss black to the exterior brightwork, complemented by the dark technical finish of the lightweight, forged 20″ Vulcan design alloy wheels through which can be seen the Jaguar High Performance Brake callipers finished in either an eye-catching red or discreet gunmetal. The XKR-S Convertible is available in a range of six colours, including Polaris White and British Racing Green, a tribute to Jaguar’s competition heritage. The acoustically treated hood opens and stows in just 18 seconds and has been proven at the car’s maximum speed. It comes in black as standard with a further six optional colours available.

“Taking the track-oriented ethos of the XKR-S Coupe and applying it to a convertible is very exciting. There is a real spirit and thrill to driving with the roof down and in a car capable of these speeds that is going to be exaggerated to create a very dramatic and special experience.”

Ian Callum, Director of Design, Jaguar Cars.

Performance

The engineering integrity of the acclaimed AJ-V8 petrol engine, now in its third generation, meant that Jaguar’s engineers could derive the extra power and torque needed for the XKR-S. The advanced design of the quad-cam, all-aluminium AJ-V8 incorporates spray-guided direct injection and variable valve timing for great efficiency as well as prodigious power. The Roots-type twin-vortex supercharger nestling in the ‘V’ of the engine has twin intercoolers and is 20 percent more thermodynamically efficient than its predecessor.

The result is 550PS and 680Nm, allowing the XKR-S Convertible to accelerate from a standstill to 60mph in just 4.2 seconds (0-100km/h in 4.4 seconds) and on to an electronically limited top speed of 186mph (300km/h).

Liberating an extra 40PS and 55Nm over and above the XKR entailed remapping the fuelling characteristics and increasing exhaust gas flow though the use of an active exhaust system.

With the roof lowered on the XKR-S Convertible the Performance Active exhaust system delivers an authentic, race-car inspired soundtrack that has been tuned to provide the driver with a thoroughly exhilarating driving experience.

Dynamics

With the XK model designed as a convertible from the outset, Jaguar’s engineers were able to apply the changes that created the XKR-S Coupe into the open-topped GT without compromising performance, agility or refinement.

Jaguar pioneered the use of aluminium in series production cars and it is this metal’s low mass and high tensile strength that gives the XKR-S such a breadth of abilities. A kerb weight of 1800kg and torsional rigidity of 16,500 Newton metres per degree provide Jaguar’s engineers a solid foundation on which to apply the detail changes that create the company’s most involving convertible ever.

Both front and rear suspension systems have been revised. A new aluminium steering knuckle in the front double wishbone suspension increases camber stiffness by 23 percent to provide even greater levels of steering accuracy and feedback. To increase stability and control, the Active Differential has been uprated to reduce steering sensitivity at very high speeds.

Rear damper top mounts have been stiffened over and above the changes found on the XKR-S Coupe while the rear wheel steer effect has been optimised for agility. Spring rates front and rear have been increased by 28 percent while a bespoke Adaptive Damping programme for the XKR-S maximises body control, traction and grip.

Unsprung mass has been reduced by nearly five percent through the fitment of lightweight, forged alloy wheels, which also offer greater traction and grip levels thanks to wider rear tyres that were specifically developed for use on the XKR-S and serve to increase the size of the tyre contact patch. The XKR-S convertible rides on Pirelli P-Zero tyres (255/35 ZR20 at the front and 295/30 ZR20 at the rear).

In order to allow the enthusiastic driver to enjoy the benefits of these changes, the Dynamic Stability Control system has undergone bespoke changes. In Trac DSC mode, specific traction, stability and Active Differential settings reduce intervention levels and enhance mid-corner adjustability, allowing the exhilarating handling to be safely exploited to the full.

The Jaguar High Performance Braking System fitted as standard is more than a match for the car’s seductive performance. Huge brake discs – 380mm front and 376mm rear – in combination with aluminium callipers and pad area increases of 44 percent front and 31 percent rear in comparison to the XK provide confidence inspiring levels of power, stability and feel.

“Because the XK was designed as a convertible it has great structural integrity. This allowed us to apply the XKR-S coupe’s sporting suspension settings to create a convertible with no compromises. Its blend of great speed, precision and dynamism is given an extra dimension with the roof down and that thrilling exhaust soundtrack.”

Mike Cross, Chief Engineer, Vehicle Integrity

Interior

With the convertible hood stowed away, the interior of the XKR-S will be subject to as many envious glances as the exterior, with both highlighting the car’s high performance intent.

Exclusive to the XKR-S models are carbon-leather trimmed versions of Jaguar’s Performance seats which feature integrated head rests, racing harness cut-outs and increased side and squab support to hold driver and passenger securely during high speed cornering. The 16-way adjustable, heated seats feature highlights of carbon leather and contrast micropiping unique to the model.

Superb tactile interfaces are provided by the multifunction three-spoke leather-wrapped steering wheel and Jaguar-embossed bright stainless steel pedals. Other premium surfaces include soft-feel paint for the switches and a gloss black centre console. An exclusive dark aluminium finish is available as standard with an optional Piano Black finish also available.

Introduction

Jaguar’s award-winning flagship XJ saloon – which combines elegance, drama and sporting prowess – is now available with optional Sport and Speed Packs to further emphasise the performance aspect of its character.

With the XJ, Jaguar has created an entirely new template for the luxury performance saloon. The XJ seamlessly blends sporting potential, dynamic driving abilities and luxurious appointments; a class-leading combination that has gathered plaudits worldwide. The Sport and Speed packs further unlock the performance potential of the XJ both aesthetically and dynamically.

The Sport Pack – available throughout the XJ range – comprises a number of exterior and interior design options that clearly underline the assertive side of the car’s personality. Externally the appearance of the XJ has been made even more dramatic with the addition of aerodynamically optimised changes to the bodywork and an alloy wheel design specific to the Sport Pack.

The functional aerodynamic changes of the Sport Pack allow supercharged XJ models to be additionally offered with the Speed Pack, which raises the limited top speed from 155mph (250km/h) to 174mph (280km/h).

Design

“The XJ is much more than a limousine. Its power and potential mean it can out-perform many so-called sports cars. The new Sport and Speed Packs allow customers to enhance that sporting dynamism even further and create an XJ that looks as good as it drives.”

Ian Callum, Director of Design, Jaguar Cars

The elegantly integrated design changes that comprise the Sport Pack are not simply cosmetic, they allow Jaguar to offer the Speed Pack option, transforming the supercharged XJ models into the fastest saloons the company has ever built.

The result of extensive research in the wind tunnel and on track, the front of the car gains an aerodynamic splitter beneath the bumper to direct air beneath the car to

reduce lift, and at the rear the bootlid lip has been extended to ensure a clean separation of air from the trailing edge of the bodywork. While ensuring optimal stability at high-speed, the Sport Pack maintains the standard XJ’s sleek 0.29Cd aerodynamic figure.

These changes have been reinforced with a number of cosmetic additions that clearly distinguish the Sport Pack-equipped cars from other models. The bold Jaguar radiator grille, a key feature in the XJ’s assertive face with its strong ‘rear view mirror recognition’ factor gains a gloss black mesh finish with the same treatment applied to the lower air opening and side vents.

Red painted brake callipers emblazoned with the Jaguar name are mounted behind new 20-inch ‘Venom’ alloy wheels with a diamond-turned sparkle silver finish to their eye-catching five split-spoke design. Newly designed split twin tailpipes (not available from launch) will leave other drivers in no doubt as to what car has just passed them.

Interior

Reflecting the exterior styling changes and befitting its performance oriented remit, the XJ Sport Pack offers interior changes that give driver and passengers a heightened sense of occasion and an indication of the dynamic abilities available.

The front seats are Jaguar’s Performance version, which offer superb support for spirited driving. Trimmed in softgrain leather these offer a huge range of adjustment – including the enlarged side bolsters – to create a perfectly tailored driving position. Active ventilation supplies heated or chilled air as required to each individual front seat. At the driver’s feet sit purposeful machined stainless steel pedals engraved with the Jaguar name.

The rear seats have been trimmed to match the front pair and the Sport specification will be offered in two purposeful colourways of Jet over Jet or Jet over Ivory. The

eye-catching Piano Black trim that highlights certain touch surfaces in the XJ is contrasted in the Sport specification by subtly applied carbon-fibre highlights.

Performance

“A car capable of 174mph must have certain basic attributes – stability, aerodynamics, prodigious power and as little weight as possible. The XJ is blessed with all these qualities in abundance and with the addition of the Speed Pack it becomes an ever more impressive performance saloon.”

Mike Cross, Chief Engineer, Vehicle Integrity

The XJ benefits from superb aerodynamics and Jaguar’s innovative lightweight aluminium architecture to offer weight savings of up to 150kg over its competitors. This offers tangible benefits in terms of economy, emissions, driving dynamics, agility and, of course, performance.

The Sport Pack is available on nearly all engine variants, including the muscular twin-turbo diesel, market-specific 3.0 V6 petrol and naturally-aspirated 5.0-litre AJ-V8 where it serves to emphasise the sporting character and driver involvement that are core strengths of every XJ model.

On supercharged AJ-V8 models, the Sport pack can be combined with the Speed Pack, which raises the electronically limited maximum speed from 155mph (250km/h) to 174mph (280km/h).

With such prodigious power already available from the supercharged petrol engines, no increase was necessary to achieve the higher top speed. The only changes necessary were a recalibrated engine management system, reworked software for the innovative virtual instrument display and adjustment to the tyre pressure monitoring system to take into account the heat generated by sustained high-speed motoring.

Ian Callum, Director of Design, Jaguar Cars: “Jaguars have always been dramatically different. With the C-X16 we have moved the current award-winning design language on to the next generation, creating a car that is the very essence of future Jaguar performance.”

Under the muscular clamshell bonnet is a next-generation supercharged V6 petrol engine producing 380 PS (280kW) and 332 lb ft (450 Nm) of torque. Already boasting a high specific power output of 126 PS-per-litre, the performance of the C-X16 is further supplemented by a Formula 1-inspired hybrid boost system with a steering-wheel mounted button for on-demand acceleration.

Integrated into the eight-speed gearbox is a motor generator which draws power from a 1.6kWh battery pack mounted behind the seats for ideal 50:50 weight distribution. Charged through a brake energy regeneration system, the batteries allow the motor to provide an additional 95 PS (70 kW) and173 lb ft (235 Nm).

Mounted in an aluminium chassis structure, the result is 0-62 mph acceleration in 4.4 seconds, a top speed of 186 mph and acceleration from 50-75 mph of 2.1 seconds. The C-X16 is also able to travel at speeds of up to 50 mph under electric power alone and has CO2 emissions of 165 g/km.

The C-X16 measures 4,445 mm in length, 2,048 mm in width and 1,297 mm in height and has a wheelbase measuring 2,622 mm. In terms of overall length, the C-X16 is the smallest Jaguar created since 1954 and the XK120.

The C-X16 will be presented at the Jaguar Land Rover press conference in Hall Five at the Frankfurt Motor Show on Tuesday September 13 at 09:15 CET.

The fastest and most efficient production Jaguars ever created go on-sale today.

The new XF 2.2, capable of travelling in excess of 800-miles on a single tank of diesel while emitting just 149 g/km of CO2 is joined by the XKR-S – a car that can accelerate from rest to 100 mph in 8.7 seconds before reaching an electronically limited 186 mph.

Each model forms part of the new Jaguar 12MY programme of upgrades and improvements that sees the XF take on an elegant new look with extensive panel changes including the bonnet, front and rear lights and bumpers, front wings and improvements to the interior switchgear, the navigation system and seats. The relentless programme of engineering and design enhancements help ensure the XF, named ‘Car of the Decade’ by owners contributing to the Auto Express Driver Power survey, remains highly competitive in its class.

Similarly, the XK range benefits from a series of changes. A new, larger front grille is framed by a set of slim new headlight units, new horizontal front wing vents, new wheel designs and changes to the rear lights. For the first time bucket seats will be offered on the car while the interior features new trim finishes to further raise the levels of comfort and refinement.

The highly successful XJ also benefits from subtle revisions. A rear-seat comfort option pack has been introduced that includes reclining seats, four-way adjustment for the lower back, a massage feature, footrests and winged headrests.

The new 12MY range is launched at an exciting time for Jaguar as it prepares to unveil the next stage in its bold, product-led strategy for growth at the Frankfurt Motor Show.

The Jaguar C-X16 production concept will make its global debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show on September 13.

Designed by the same team that produced the Jaguar XJ, XF and XK – headed by Jaguar Director of Design Ian Callum – the C-X16 concept is a precursor to future Jaguar sports cars that will aim to set new class benchmarks in design, vehicle dynamics and technology.

As the concept neared completion Ian Callum, Director of Design, Jaguar Cars commented: ‘Great Jaguars have always been beautiful, innovative and have looked firmly to the future. The finished C-X16 concept has the potential to do these things while retaining the ability to surprise, to excite and invigorate.’

Adrian Hallmark, Global Brand Director, Jaguar Cars commented: ‘Jaguar has set in place bold, ambitious plans for the future. This production concept demonstrates the depth of design and engineering ability we have within Jaguar to make these plans come to life – I look forward to sharing this latest, exciting step at the Frankfurt Motor Show.’

Big and small E-types will come together at Sandown Park Race course on Saturday September 3rd this year, when Classic Motor Cars of Bridgnorth and Barry Potter Fairs celebrate the 50th anniversary of the E-type Jaguar.

Owners of both the real versions and their toy counterparts are being asked to bring them along to the show which will see Jaguar’s top test driver Norman Dewis, who originally tested the famous marque, on hand to sign autographs.

Owners of real E-types are being invited to go along and take part in a free to enter Concours d’Elegance, which will see their cars displayed outside the famous venue and then judged with prizes awarded.

Bonhams, the famous car auctioneers, will be on hand to value not only E-types but also any Jaguars that turn up on the day. Owners are asked to contact Bonhams beforehand, to book an appointment time if they wish their car to be valued.

Owners of their toy counterparts are invited to bring them along so that they can take part in a miniature Concours d’Elegance, the first time that this has happened anywhere in the world. Vectis, the world’s leading toy auction house will be running the Concours and a toy valuation service.

Barry Potter, who has been running his famous fairs at Sandown Park for the last 24 years said: ” This should be a fantastic day out for E-type and Jaguar enthusiasts whether they collect the real thing or their toy counterparts.”

“Thanks to Peter Neumark and Classic Motor Cars several very famous Jaguar E-types will be on display at Sandown Park.

Heading the E-types will be the Lindner Nocker lightweight. The one and only factory Low Drag lightweight E-type which been put back together after 7,000 hours of restoration.

When it crashed in at the Montlhéry circuit in 1964 the Lindner Nocker E-type was so badly damaged that a complete restoration was thought to be impossible. Now, some 47 years later, the car has been put back to its former glory after more than 7,000 hours of work and using more than 90% of the original parts.

Also there will be the only E type known to survive with the chassis number one prefix and the first E type to be sold that was owned by Lofty England, manager of Jaguar’s sports car racing team of the 1950s. Lofty went on to become Chairman and Chief Executive of Jaguar Cars before retiring in 1974.

Jaguar Heritage will have on display the last E-type ever to be produced: HDU 55N.

Jaguar Heritage will also have a number of other famous Jaguar’s from their Coventry museum on display and will be selling Jaguar Heritage items to raise money for their famous museum in Browns Lane Coventry.

Peter Neumark from Classic Motor Cars said: “We will have experts on hand to give advice about restoring and maintaining Jaguars but there will be many other Jaguar activities. We want all Jaguar E-type owners to take part in the Concours d’Elegance. Cars do not have to be pristine, it will be a fun event and there will be a variety of classes and prizes.”

The event will also see the launch of the “Toy Jaguar Book” by Michael Driver, which explores the world of Jaguar cars through the many toys and models, produced by manufacturers around the world

Paul Skilliter books will be selling some of their great books on Jaguar cars including Norman Dewis of Jaguar which Norman will be signing and Octane magazine will have available a special supplement to celebrate the 50 years of the E-type

The Maidenhead Static Model Club, Britain’s oldest and widest based model collectors’ club will be displaying a wide variety of Jaguar models, from tinplate through to diecast.

In the café area at the show will be an E-type art gallery created by ARTS BANK, which is owned by Bryan Goodall the Chairman of Vectis.

Bryan has commissioned artist from his unique gallery based at Saltburn on Sea near Middlesbrough to create their own tribute to the Jaguar E-type in a series of unique limited edition prints.

“ I am sure that many dealers will bring model Jaguars to sell,” said Barry Potter, “and we would like as many Jaguar Cars to turn up as possible including of course E-types.”

He added: “They could make it a Jaguar E-type weekend by attending the our E-type Extravaganza on the Saturday and then travelling to Chelsea Legends at the famous Chelsea Hospital on the Sunday for the second running of the famous car show.”

E-type and Jaguar owners that would like to bring their cars should contact David barzilay on: 0207 544 8980 or email him:

One of the most important Jaguar cars ever built has been unveiled in Bridgnorth, Shropshire, after 7,000 hours of restoration.

The one and only factory Low Drag lightweight E-type has been put back together in one of the most complex restorations ever to take place anywhere in the World.

More than 300 guests saw the car unveiled at the Classic Motor Cars workshops in Bridgnorth.

When it crashed in at the Montlhery circuit in 1964 the Lindner Nocker E-type was so badly damaged that a complete restoration was thought to be impossible. Now, some 47 years later, the car has been put back to its former glory using more than 90% of the original parts.

Four years ago Peter Neumark through his Classic Motor Car business, CMC, in Bridgnorth started the restoration of the car, which was a mangled wreck.

Many said that it could not be done, and that most of the parts including the body panels, which had been bent beyond recognition, could not be used.

However, Peter Neumark and Classic Motor Cars Ltd’s team of dedicated of restorers has put the car back into the condition that it was just before the crash.

Over five thousand hours went into restoring the body alone. The original crashed monocoque which had been deemed too difficult to restore in the 1970′s was disseminated into individual panels. Each panel was then flattened, repaired, reformed into the original shape and then the structure was riveted and spot welded together as per the original construction method.

The restoration was assisted by members of Peter’s Lindner’s own family, the driver who died in the crash in 1964 who provided old photographs and cine footage of the car. Peter Wilson who worked in the Competition Department in 1964 and worked on the car in period was also tremendously helpful but special praise needs to go to Andrew Turvey at CMC who dedicated himself to ensuring that every aspect of this amazing car was as per the original spec.

The importance of this car cannot be over estimated. It was one of only 12 lightweight E-Types built by Jaguar in 1963 and in 1964 it was returned to Browns Lane, Coventry.

In its preparation as Jaguar’s unofficial entry for Le Mans that year, Malcolm Sayer designed a special low drag body and work to the engine ensured that it was the most powerful Jaguar the Competition Department had ever produced and it became the last Competition car prepared by the factory in Browns Lane, Coventry.

Fitting then that in this 50th Anniversary year, it should be reinstated.

The car has now been invited to some of the most famous car events around the world, but before it goes to Italy and then America it will be unveiled to the media in Bridgnorth.

On hand to take part in the unveiling was Norman Dewis, Jaguar cars famous test driver, the original drivers nephew, Tomas Fritz, the Frenchman who found the car in a garage ten years after it crashed, Patrick Lansard, together with the team that have dedicated their lives to putting it back together just the way it was.

Peter Neumark, the Chairman of Classic Motor Cars said: “This is one of the most major restorations ever to take place in the World. Many said that it could not be done but we have proved them wrong.”

The 2012 XF compact saloon has been unveiled at the New York Auto Show complete with fresh styling, advanced new technologies and an innovative entry-level powertrain that promises to make it the most efficient Jaguar yet produced.

Key to the changes is a new look for the XF. Drawing on the latest Jaguar design language applied to the XJ, the new XF features an all-new look to the front end with slim new headlight units set into which are distinctive LED lighting strips sitting either side of a larger, more upright grille. A lower bonnet line complete with a pronounced, wider power bulge running down the centre lends the XF a purposeful stance emphasised by a new look to the lower bumper section complete with a trio of airdams, the outside pair of which are now intersected by twisted chrome fins.

Further back, a pair of subtle new vents are mounted to the front wings complete with Jaguar script set into the chrome strip. At the rear of the car the tail lamp units have been redesigned with LED technology being employed, while the units themselves now extend further into the boot lid with a new chrome blade sitting below a simple Jaguar leaper badge.

The interior of the XF has been given a subtle refresh with a restyled steering wheel joining revised switchgear for the ventilation systems and all-new colour central and dial-mounted screens relaying reprogrammed navigation and entertainment software. Redesigned seats offer a new look and greater support while fresh trim finishes ensure the XF’s award-winning interior still sets the benchmark in its class.

Significant changes take place under the skin of the new XF with a four cylinder engine available for the first time. The 2.2-litre common rail diesel unit, installed in a north-south configuration, develops 190 PS and 332 lbs ft of torque and is linked to a new eight-speed ZF automatic gearbox and an innovative Stop-Start system – marking the first time such a device has been fitted to a Jaguar. The result is combined economy in excess of 50 mpg and CO2 emissions of 149 g/km.

The 3.0-litre V6 diesel engines continue in 240 PS standard and 275 PS Diesel S form while the petrol range comprises of a pair of V8 engines developing 385 PS and, in supercharged XFR form, a substantial 510 PS.

High performance Diesel S models benefit from a host of upgrades including full aerodynamic styling, adaptive dynamic suspension (as on XFR) and an ‘R’ performance interior.

The range-topping XFR takes the new look adopted by the XF a step further with a trio of deep airdams dominating the front of the car with a set of cooling vents set into the bonnet either side of the power bulge. New sill extensions run down the side of the car framed by redesigned 20-inch wheels. At the rear the new lights sit above a redesigned bumper complete with a subtle diffuser.

Across the new XF range advances have been made in refinement with active engine mounts (diesels) and new sound deadening material featuring on the car as well as redesigned wing mirrorsto reduce wind noise. The result is a car that sets new benchmarks in the suppression of road noise.

The new XF will go on sale in September with prices starting at £30,950 for the 2.2-litre diesel engine rising to £65,350 for the XFR.

FIRST DETAILS: 2012 XK RANGE

The new 2012 XK range has evolved to take on an elegant new look, elements of which are shared with the XKR-S unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in March.

The most significant changes take place at the front of the new XK with a set of all-new headlight units that are not only slimmer (by 15mm) than the ones they replace but now feature subtle LED running lights alongside intricately styled reflector units. These sit above a new, larger oval grille framed in chrome with mesh in the centre that, in the case of the XKR, is finished in black. Mounted either side of the grille are a pair of small air scoops feeding air to the brakes.

Setting the new XK apart from its predecessor is a horizontal vent mounted on each wing complete with a chrome blade bearing the Jaguar name running through it replacing the vertical items. These help the XK appear both longer and lower.

At the rear of the car new taillights using LED technology sit either side of a thinner chrome strip and, debuting for the first time on an XK, a Jaguar leaper badge.

Inside the new XK range the interior has been given a freshen up with new trim finishes and, for the first time, the option of sculpted leather sports seats.

As with the outgoing range, the new XK and XKR will both be available in convertible form while the new XKR-S coupé sits at the top of the range. All models go on sale in the UK in September.

Jaguar has once again posted strong results in the UK with March sales exceeding expectations.

The XJ luxury saloon continues to build on its remarkable success in the UK, posting a record 32 per cent segment share in March. Launched in 2010, the XJ immediately established itself among the top sellers in its segment, a situation it’s built on in recent months, posting a significant margin in terms of sales between it and its nearest competitor.

Elsewhere, the XF compact saloon remains Jaguar’s volume seller with encouraging sales of 2,066 vehicles in March. This figure is expected to grow significantly in the coming months with the introduction of the recently announced 2.2-litre four cylinder diesel engine that’s predicted to account for the majority of XF sales in the UK.

The XK range continues to enjoy sustained popularity in the UK, emerging as the best-selling model in the large sports car sector with 23 per cent of the market share in March.

Jaguar continues to witness significant increases in worldwide sales. In China region sales are up six per cent for the month, in Germany sales rose by 49 per cent while in Russia an increase of 70 per cent was recorded. This performance contributed to a worldwide overall increase for the quarter of three per cent in what continues to be a challenging global market.

Geoff Cousins, Managing Director, Jaguar UK commented: ‘These figures are extremely encouraging and demonstrate the strong positive momentum behind the Jaguar brand in the UK at the moment. Our newest model, the XJ, continues to extend its lead at the top of its market segment while increased growth is expected in the coming months as we see significant enhancements being introduced on the XF range as well as inspiring new products including the new XKR-S model at the top of the range.’

Jaguar will launch its most potent series production car ever, the all-new XKR-S, at the Geneva Motor Show on March 1.

This all-new model will significantly broaden the appeal of the XK range, offering enthusiastic drivers a compelling, fresh choice in the luxury GT class.

With an uprated supercharged V8 engine, overhauled suspension and a new aerodynamically-driven design, the XKR-S is the ultimate expression of Jaguar’s long held duality of purpose: GT luxury with incredible performance.

“The XKR-S is a bold and exciting new model for Jaguar,” said Adrian Hallmark, Jaguar’s new Global Brand Director. “We expect to attract both loyal and new Jaguar driving enthusiasts who still want the comfort, opulence and class only a Jaguar can offer, combined with inspirational performance.”

The XKR-S produces 550PS and 680Nm of torque, enough power to offer a top speed of 186mph (300km/h). Its performance credentials speak for themselves: 0-60mph takes 4.2 seconds, with 0-100mph dismissed in just 8.6 seconds.

The XKR-S is not merely the quickest Jaguar ever, but also the most agile, responsive and driver-focused. It exploits the XK’s strong, lightweight aluminium body architecture to maximise both handling and economy. Alongside its incredible performance, the XKR-S is the only car in its class that emits less than 300g/km CO2.

Bespoke suspension changes to the front and rear offer ultimate precision, control and driver appeal, while a reprogrammed Adaptive Dynamics system allows the enthusiastic driver to explore the edges of the handling envelope.

Full details, images and video of the XKR-S will be available on Geneva press day – March 1.

Alongside the exciting new XKR-S, Jaguar will be marking the 50th anniversary of the E-Type with the first in a series of celebrations that take place during 2011.

Jaguar will be hosting E-Type drives at the Parc des Eaux Vives in Geneva, where the original car was launched by the marque’s founder Sir William Lyons half a century ago.

The appeal of E-Type transcended the automotive world. Such is the inherent rightness of its proportions, stance and purity of line, that it is a permanent exhibit in New York’s Museum of Modern Art.

Its influence is still apparent in Jaguar’s modern range – products that offer a peerless blend of performance, comfort, cutting-edge technology and award-winning design.

“It is impossible to overstate the impact the E-Type had,” said Ian Callum, Jaguar Design Director. “Here was a car that encapsulated the spirit of the revolutionary era it came to symbolise. We’re looking forward to celebrating achievement and looking forward with our all-new sports cars in Geneva.”

This year marks the 50th anniversary of one of the most famous and desirable cars in automotive history – the Jaguar E-Type.

Jaguar will be celebrating this special anniversary year at high-profile motoring events throughout 2011.

The company will mark the anniversary at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show and go on to celebrate at Goodwood’s Revival and Festival of Speed, the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, the Nurburgring Old Timer Grand Prix and a host of Jaguar customer, dealer and lifestyle events worldwide.

When it was launched in 1961, the appeal of E-Type transcended the automotive world. Such is the inherent rightness of its proportions, stance and purity of line, that it is a permanent exhibit in New York’s Museum of Modern Art.

The now iconic E-Type set new standards in automotive design and performance when it was launched in 1961. Its influence is still apparent in Jaguar’s modern range: cars that offer a peerless blend of performance, comfort, cutting-edge technology and award-winning design.

“Half a century of progress has not diminished the significance of the E-Type,” said Mike O’Driscoll, Managing Director Jaguar Cars and Chairman Jaguar Heritage. “It was a sensation when it was launched, and remains Jaguar’s most enduring and iconic symbol. The E-Type is simply one of the most exciting cars ever created and a legacy to the genius of Jaguar’s founder, Sir William Lyons.”

E-Type owners included celebrities such as George Best, Brigitte Bardot, Tony Curtis and Steve McQueen and the sports car became as synonymous with the Swinging Sixties as the Beatles and the mini skirt.

“It is impossible to overstate the impact the E-Type had when it was unveiled in 1961,” said Ian Callum, Jaguar Design Director. “Here was a car that encapsulated the spirit of the revolutionary era it came to symbolise. The E-Type is a design that even today continues to inform the work we do in styling the Jaguars of the future.”

Unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in March 1961, Jaguar’s E-Type caused a sensation. Capable of achieving 150mph, but costing a fraction of the price of rivals with similar performance, it was the affordable supercar and became an instant icon – remaining on sale for 14 years.

This year’s Silverstone Classic (22-24 July) will be the world’s premier venue for the Jaguar E-Type’s 50th birthday celebrations. Launched in 1961, the legendary E-Type remains one of the most iconic, elegant and revered sports cars of all time and its golden anniversary will be honoured with a host of special races and displays at the world’s biggest classic motor racing festival.

Jaguar owners clubs in the UK have chosen the 2011 Silverstone Classic as the number one event worldwide to mark the E-Type’s half century. They are forecasting the greatest showing of Jaguar E-Types ever assembled with eager owners bringing their cherished cars from right around the world.

Adding to the festivities, the weekend’s busy on-track schedule includes two races dedicated solely to competition versions of the Jaguar E-Type. With nearly 90 cars already registered with the Historic Sports Car Club (HSCC) organisers, a record grid of more than 50 race-prepared E-Types is predicted.

“The response has been remarkable with huge interest from the UK as well as abroad,” reports Grahame White, Chief Executive of the HSCC. “As the Silverstone Classic is held on the full Grand Prix circuit we will be able to start what’s almost certain to be the biggest grid of E-Types of all time – it promises to be a magnificent site and a fabulous celebration.”

In total, more than a thousand racing and road-going E-Types are expected to join the golden anniversary celebrations at Silverstone and owners are being provided with dedicated infield parking areas and special ticket discounts, plus many other benefits. Notably the Jaguar E-Type Club has set up a unique ‘E50 Birthday Celebration’ weekend package to include a run through some of England’s most beautiful countryside, accommodation and a dinner dance in Shakespeare Country at Stratford-upon-Avon plus three day’s attendance at the 2011 Silverstone Classic.

“With so many E-Types on and off the track, it’s going to be a fantastic occasion – the world’s biggest and best celebration for one of the truly great sports cars,” says Nick Wigley, Event Director. “What’s more, the Silverstone Classic offers the perfect place and timing for the world to celebrate such an important milestone in automotive history. After all Jaguar designed and produced the E-Types just up the road at Browns Lane in Coventry and the very first UK sales commenced in July 1961. It’s going to be an absolutely amazing occasion – a party no classic car fan will want to miss.”

Highlighting the legendary Jaguar’s central role at this year’s Silverstone Classic, one of the very first Jaguar E-Types produced was featured on the event’s award winning exhibition stand earlier this month at the Autosport Show International.

The historic car on display was the 11th Jaguar E-Type car made, chassis number 850011 and will be one of the many contesting the two HSCC Jaguar E-Type Challenge races at the Silverstone Classic in July. These early pre-production cars were sold to selected customers who would race them, gaining valuable promotion. This car went to George Wicken, a successful Formula 2 driver who raced it throughout 1961 against the likes of Graham Hill, Roy Salvadori and Bruce McLaren and was one of only two E-Types entered for the 1961 TT at Goodwood. It now competes successfully in historic racing driven by owner Gary Pearson.

Highlighting the amazing mix of famous competition cars that will be racing alongside the E-Types at the 2011 Silverstone Classic, the display stand at the recent Autosport Show also featured a Maserati 250F from the Fifties, regarded by many as the finest Grand Prix car of all generations, as well as one of the famous V12 Silk Cut Jaguar XJR9s that took the famous British marque back to victory at Le Mans in 1988. Later in the year, both will be lining up on respective HGPCA pre-61 Grand Prix Cars and Group C grids at the 2011 Silverstone Classic.

Jaguar has revealed a stunning range-extended electric supercar concept car. The C-X75 has been designed to celebrate 75 years of the marque and provide a glimpse into the future of Jaguar and its commitment to producing beautiful, fast cars powered by sustainable means.

“The C-X75 is a tribute to the people who shaped the iconic Jaguars that are revered to this day. By making it an innovative test-bed for the technologies of tomorrow, it also ensures that our reputation for engineering excellence will continue for another 75 years and beyond.”

Mike O’Driscoll, Managing Director, Jaguar Cars

75 Years of Jaguar Design

The C-X75 hints at an exciting evolution of Jaguar’s design language while paying homage to some of its most admired cars of years gone by. Advanced design features such as a ground-breaking propulsion system and active aerodynamics allow for an elegantly simple fuselage section that remains stable at very high speeds.

The C-X75 is finished in Jetstream Silver, its designers staying true to the long-held Jaguar design philosophy of natural, flowing lines and simple, elegant forms. Where inspiration from the past was found is in the innovative engineering and functional design elements of cars like the 1950s C-Type and D-Type racers and unique 1966 XJ13 Le Mans prototype – a car described by Callum as, “arguably the most beautiful Jaguar ever made”.

Shorter and lower than the current crop of supercars, its exterior design is about pure performance with a simple central fuselage surrounded by prominent wheel arches. Thanks to the packaging efficiencies provided by the absence of a conventional piston engine, the car’s designers had maximum freedom in placing the mechanical components and creating the most elegant engineering package available.

“The C-X75 is everything a Jaguar should be. It possesses remarkable poise and grace yet at the same time has the excitement and potency of a true supercar. You could argue this is as close to a pure art form as a concept car can get and we believe it is a worthy homage to 75 years of iconic Jaguar design.”

Ian Callum, Design Director, Jaguar Cars

Propulsion system

The 330km/h (205mph) four-wheel drive supercar is capable of running in purely electric (zero tailpipe emissions) mode for 110km (68 miles) on a six-hour domestic plug-in charge. The innovative, lightweight micro gas-turbines are also capable of very quickly and efficiently recharging the Lithium-ion batteries, giving the car a theoretical range of 900km (560 miles).

This remarkable range-extension system is a result of Jaguar’s research engineers adopting a clean-sheet approach to the question of powering the supercars of the future. The C-X75 turns to the very latest evolution of a pioneering British technology: the gas turbine.

Developed in partnership with Bladon Jets, the miniaturised turbine blade – the first viable axial-flow micro-turbine – increases the compression and efficiency of micro gas-turbines to the point at which they can be viewed as a realistic power source. Each of the micro gas-turbines weighs just 35kg and produces 70kW of power at a constant 80,000rpm.

Power and control

The energy created by the turbines and stored in the batteries is transmitted to the road using four independent electric motors. Using individual motors has benefits in terms of weight-saving and distribution, packaging and efficiency. Each motor weighs just 50kg but produces 145kW (195bhp) of power and an astonishing combined total torque output of 1600Nm (1180lb ft).

Because each wheel is driven by its own electric motor, the C-X75 is four-wheel drive – with all the traction, grip and safety benefits that entails – without the weight disadvantages of a purely mechanical set-up. Inherent in this drivetrain is the ability to independently vector torque to each wheel across the full speed range. This offers potential benefits in terms of stability and control, creating an infinitely and instantaneously adjustable traction and stability control system.

Driver-focused cabin

With the seats fixed, the steering wheel, controls, main binnacle and pedal box all adjust towards the driver. The seats are attached to the bulkhead as in a single-seater racing car, and air to feed the turbines passes smoothly around them via channels in the structure of the body.

A new interface for the driver has also been created for the C-X75 using high-resolution TFT screens. Building on Jaguar’s 10-year expertise in touchscreen technology, the Jaguar Co-Pilot display in the centre console supports the driver in extracting the full potential of the C-X75 by seamlessly managing information.

The main driver information screen is housed within the instrument binnacle. Needles float on the periphery of the twin cowls and sweep round the outer edge to display the status and rpm of the two turbines. The design team combined designs from instrumentation in the new XJ saloon with those from fighter aircraft to create virtual 3D ‘gimbals’ around which the gauges wrap and rotate to provide status updates.

75 years of innovation

“Performance through innovation has always been a Jaguar trademark. From the beginning, cars such as the C-Type and D-Type pioneered aluminium construction, aerodynamic design, racing monocoques and disc brakes. The C-X75 demonstrates that Jaguar is still leading the field automotive design and technology. And will always continue to build beautiful, fast cars.”

Ralf Speth, Chief Executive Officer, Jaguar Land Rover

Advanced aluminium lightweight construction

Jaguar’s expertise in the use of aluminium stretches back more than 50 years to the first XK120s, through the lightweight E-Types, the XK and all-new 2010 XJ. It was with this latter creation that Jaguar fully realised the lightweight metal’s benefits to performance, agility, economy and sustainability in a luxury car.

The C-X75 naturally follows the same construction techniques with an extruded and bonded aerospace-inspired aluminium chassis clad in panels of the same material. Not only does this save weight, crucial in a car with an extreme performance envelope, but aluminium is one of the most easily recyclable metals available, boosting the C-X75′s sustainability as well as its speed.

Active Aerodynamics

Aerodynamics have always played a large part in Jaguar design with the late designer Malcolm Sayer elevating it into an art form in cars such as the XJ13, the prototype from which the C-X75 draws inspiration.

Jaguar has increased the design’s aerodynamic efficiency dramatically by opening the front grille and brake cooling vents only when necessary. At the rear corners of the car vertical control surfaces automatically engage at higher speeds to direct airflow aft of the rear wheels for increased stability and efficiency.

The carbon-fibre rear diffuser, a crucial element in guiding airflow under the car and creating downforce includes an active aerofoil, which is lowered automatically as speed increases. Vanes in the exhaust ports then alter the directional flow of the gases to further increase the effectiveness of the Venturi tunnel.

The XJ75 Platinum Concept is the company’s first demonstration of the design customisation potential of the striking new XJ luxury salon, emphasising the Jaguar’s dramatic interior and exterior styling themes.

“The new Jaguar XJ Platinum Concept celebrates Jaguar’s 75th Anniversary, and highlights the uniqueness of the XJ, and more broadly, the increasingly personal nature of luxury cars in today’s market,” said Mike O’Driscoll, Managing Director of Jaguar Cars. “The XJ is thoroughly modern, and captures the innovative and daring character that our founder Sir William Lyons built into every Jaguar. And the design team clearly had some fun making their first one-of-a-kind XJ design concept in that spirit.”

Dominated by a striking white and black contrast theme that suggests precious platinum metal, the XJ75 Platinum Concept is a high-performance 470-hp 2011 Jaguar XJL Supercharged equipped with new ground-hugging front, rear and side sills. Painted a lustrous Satin Matte Pearlescent White, exterior chrome elements have been revised to either a dark chrome or gloss black. Bespoke 22-inch wheels are black and use a brushed contrast finish.

The contrast theme continues with gloss pearlescent white air vents, veneers and diamond stitch suede inserts to the seats and headliner, all set against the backdrop of a full Jet Softgrain leather interior. Suede and leather accents are seen throughout the interior to further material enhancements.

The XJ75 Platinum Concept centre console houses a bespoke clock developed and designed in partnership with the Bremont Watch Company. An independent British company, Bremont creates beautifully engineered and designed mechanical watches hand assembled in Switzerland.

“From a pure design perspective, the XJ75 Platinum Concept is foremost about emphasising the striking proportion and presence of the new XJ, with a distilled black and white theme, which conjures up the sense of precious platinum,” said Jaguar XJ Chief Designer Giles Taylor. “At the same time, the pure sporting character of XJ is brought to the fore by keeping the car’s clean graphic approach and further lowering its stance.

“On the inside, we played up the XJ’s combination of high-end materials and British flair to really have some fun. The XJ75 Platinum Concept is a design exercise that shows our vision of customization as an inspiration for those enthusiasts who have a taste for strong individuality and visual confidence in their luxury automobiles.”

Performance on the XJ75 Platinum Concept is derived from its 5.0-litre Supercharged direct-injection V8 with 470 horsepower and 424 lb.-ft of torque. Entertainment is provided by a 1,200-watt Bowers & Wilkins surround sound system with 20 speakers powered through 15 channels and state-of-the-art sound processing technology.

An exclusive XKR – the XKR 75 – will make its debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed on July 2.

Jaguar Land Rover’s new CEO, Dr Ralf Speth, initiated the challenge to the Jaguar engineering team to construct an XKR to celebrate Jaguar’s 75th anniversary, which would deliver a combination of enhanced performance, superb chassis and steering control and grip levels to inspire the driving enthusiast to explore the true potential of the XKR’s capabilities.

Mike O’Driscoll, managing director, Jaguar Cars, said: “The XKR 75 will provide owners with exclusivity, excitement and a hint of Jaguar’s great heritage. This is a fitting way to celebrate the sporting credentials of the XK marque in the 75th year of the Jaguar name,” he continued.

Jaguar engineers increased the power and torque of the acclaimed 5.0-litre supercharged engine to 530PS and 655Nm respectively for the XKR 75, to deliver truly outstanding performance. While the limited edition model’s top speed is electronically limited to 174mph (280km/h), the XKR 75′s 0—60mph (100km/h) acceleration time is reduced from 4.6 to 4.4 seconds compared to the standard 510 PS XKR.

Using the rigid lightweight aluminium architecture of the XK as a solid foundation, theincreased power of the XKR 75 is matched by an agile, dynamic chassis that handles supremely, rides exceptionally well and stops with surefooted reassurance time after time.

The Jaguar XKR 75 features revised suspension and handling for increased precision and agility in addition to the performance enhancements. To ensure the XKR 75 remains stable at high speeds, a revised aerodynamic body pack with a front splitter, side sills extensions, a rear diffuser and larger rear spoiler provide increased balance and a reduction in lift. The XKR’s computerised Active Differential Control also adjusts to reduce steering sensitivity at very high speeds, further improving stability and driver control.

And with an improved acoustics package for the semi-active sports exhaust, the XKR 75 produces a pulse-racing growl to match its performance.

The car’s driver-focussed character, however, has not been achieved at the expense of the Jaguar traditional values of refinement and comfort.

“We conceived the XR 75 as a sports car with a duality of character that makes it perfectly suited to driving across Europe to the Nurburgring, completing some very fast laps, and then driving home again, added Mike Cross, Chief Engineer Vehicle Integrity.

The XKR 75 features a new Stratus Grey finish. Red brake callipers contrast the eye-catching 20-inch gloss Vortex forged lightweight alloys with a dark technical finish and diamond turn. Customers will have the option to apply a unique body graphic that runs from the front bumper to the rear haunches.

The XKR 75’s interior completes the driver-focussed performance environment finished in Charcoal with ivory stitch, piano black finish to facia and centre console and a Jet suedecloth headlining.

THE XKR 75 AT A GLANCE

The unique features of the exclusive new XKR 75 include:

Increased performance through detailed engine and transmission recalibration

Power increased to 530PS (compared to 510 PS on XKR)

Torque increased to 655Nm (compared to 625Nm on XKR)

Upgraded torque converter to handle the increased torque

Upgraded suspension systems for increased precision and agility

Increased spring and damper rates (front springs 28 per cent stiffer, rear springs 32 per cent stiffer)

New fully-machined aluminium front and revised rear suspension upright for increased camber stiffness (increased by 25 per cent)

Re-tuned Adaptive Dynamics damper control software

Reduced ride height (15mm front and 10mm rear)

Aerodynamic body pack with body coloured finish to front splitter, side sills extensions and rear diffuser, and body coloured larger rear spoiler and rear trunk lid finisher

Sports exhaust with improved performance and acoustics – system has new crossover pipe and larger exhaust outlets

New Stratus Grey exterior paint with optional graphics pack

Red brake callipers and 20” Vortex forged lightweight alloy wheels, diamond turned with dark grey finish

XKR performance interior in Charcoal and Ivory stitch leather, with Jet suedecloth headlining and XKR 75 tread plate

Active front lighting

Jaguar has received certification from the VCA (Vehicle Certification Agency) for a comprehensive ‘cradle-to-grave’ study which analyses the environmental impact of its exciting new lightweight XJ model. The detailed lifecycle study will help accelerate the development of the next generation of more sustainable Jaguars, and highlights the company’s progress in reducing the carbon footprint of its products.

The lifecycle assessment of the latest XJ was fully audited and approved by the VCA, making Jaguar one of the few vehicle manufacturers to have completed an officially recognised study of the environmental impact of a vehicle – from manufacturing, through a lifetime of customer use, to ultimate disposal and recycling.

The comprehensive study will enable Jaguar to identify new opportunities to improve the sustainability of its vehicles, including developing the aerospace-inspired lightweight aluminium architecture which plays a central role in the outstanding performance and efficiency of the new XJ.

“VCA certification is an important milestone in Jaguar’s mission to reduce the environmental impact of its products,” says Tony Higgins, Project Leader for the XJ certification. “Detailed lifecycle assessment helps us understand more clearly the most effective ways of reducing each model’s carbon footprint.

“Jaguar is committed to maintaining a leadership position in its approach to sustainability, and the certification achieved for the new XJ model is an independent validation of the progress we have made,” he added.

Lifecycle Study Follows Leading Environmental Management Standards

The VCA certification involved an audit of each aspect of the lifecycle assessment carried out on the new Jaguar XJ, addressing product development, manufacturing processes and vehicle performance. This took account of the principles, requirements and guidelines for life cycle assessments as described in the International Standards ISO 14040:2006 and ISO 14044:2006. The audit also reviewed evidence of the integration of environmental aspects into the vehicle’s design and development as described in ISO TR 14062:2002.

To give an accurate assessment of the environmental impact, thelife cycle study was based on the creation, use and disposal of a typical XJ vehicle over a specified lifetime (200,000km), including the materials used, material processing, assembly and transport during manufacturing.

As the first complete life cycle study carried out by Jaguar, the analysis provides a significant opportunity to increase understanding about the environmental impact of producing and using one of Jaguar’s latest products, and to use this data to generate improvements within future vehicles.

Paul Markwick, VCA CEO, said, “I’m delighted to present this certificate to the team at Jaguar; I know it marks the culmination of a lot of hard work. Environmental issues are rightly high on the business agenda so it is great to see industry embracing initiatives such as Life Cycle Assessment, This demonstrates a clear commitment to the management of environmental impacts at all stages of the product life cycle, from concept through to the end of vehicle life. VCA has supported the automotive industry with its certification needs globally for more than 30 years and this extensive knowledge of the sector means that our audit teams understand the complexities of the vehicle design and construction process and the legislation supporting this”.

Developing Jaguar’s Lightweight Aluminium Architecture

A key focus for future development will be the unique lightweight aluminium vehicle architecture which lies at the heart of the latest Jaguar XJ.

Based on aerospace technology, the aluminium body structure offers a number of major advantages compared to a conventional steel shell, including a substantial cut in the energy required for manufacturing and a significant reduction in weight.

The aluminium body in the new XJ uses up to 50 percent recycled material, with a plan to increase this to 75 percent. Body panels made from recycled material use only five percent of the energy required for new aluminium, equating to a potential saving of three tonnes of CO2 per vehicle compared to a bodyshell made from new aluminium.

The XJ’s aluminium structure also saves around 150kg compared to an equivalent steel body, allowing the use of smaller, more fuel efficient engines with no compromise to performance. Equipped with the 3.0-litre AJ-V6D turbodiesel, the XJ delivers an impressive combined economy figure of 40.1mpg and CO2 emissions of 184g/km.

“Jaguar has been at the forefront of developing lightweight aluminium bodies for the past decade, and the lifecycle assessment will help us find new opportunities to enhance their environmental benefits,” says Mark White, Chief Technical Specialist Body Engineering.

“With a holistic approach, which takes account of the energy required during manufacturing, the advantages of an aluminium structure are particularly compelling. Compared to a typical steel-bodied competitor, we estimate that the new Jaguar XJ can cut CO2 emissions by six tonnes per vehicle over the whole lifecycle.

Jaguar will unveil the latest dramatic evolution of its supercharged XKR coupe at the Geneva Motor Show in March. This XKR delivers a significantly raised maximum speed – up to 174mph from 155mph – and bold styling changes that create an evocative and unique supercharged Jaguar.

The XKR Coupe unveiled at Geneva showcases two new optional performance and styling packs – Speed Pack and Black Pack – that are introduced to the XK range at 2011 Model Year. Jaguar customers have the option to personalise their vehicle to create a car that offers even greater performance without compromising the refinement and luxury for which every Jaguar is renowned.

By raising the XKR’s maximum speed the new car has extended its sporting credentials taking it even further into supercar performance territory.

Russ Varney, Chief Programme Engineer, XK Series, explains the philosophy behind the uprated XKR: “With 510PS and 625Nm of torque, the XKR has immense reserves of power and acceleration which impress everyone who experience it. The car has always had the potential to reach speeds far beyond its original electronically limited maximum and many of our customers have expressed an interest in a car that can safely be driven faster where conditions permit. The new Speed Pack allows them to release some of that potential and give them control of the fastest Jaguar XK we’ve made to date.”

The XKR Coupe featured at the Geneva Show on 4th March 2010 pairs both the optional Speed and Black Packs to create the bold new model, which also sports optional Piano Black veneers on the dashboard and red brake callipers.

The XKR Speed Pack
The XKR Coupe with new optional Speed Pack allows customers to further strengthen their XKR’s already impressive breadth of capability, by extending the car’s top speed from 155mph (250km/h) to an electronically limited 174mph (280km/h) thanks to a unique engine and transmission recalibration.

To ensure the XKR with Speed Pack remains stable at high speeds, the coupe uses a revised front aerodynamic splitter and larger rear spoiler to provide increased balance and a reduction in lift. The XKR’s computerised Active Differential Control also adjusts to reduce steering sensitivity at very high speeds, further improving stability and driver control.

Every XKR with the Speed Pack will come with body-coloured side sills and rear diffuser, and a chrome finish to the window surrounds, upper and lower mesh grilles, side Power Vents and boot lid finisher. Red brake callipers with a Jaguar ‘R’ logo sit inside 20-inch Kasuga alloy wheels.

Customers who order the XKR Coupe with the Speed Pack will be offered a paint palette that is part of the Jaguar Designers’ Choice programme – a range of colours that have been specifically chosen to compliment the performance potential of the car. Seven colours are available on Speed Pack models – Ultimate Black, Polaris White, Salsa Red, Liquid Silver, Lunar Grey, Kyanite Blue and Spectrum Blue.

The XKR Speed and Black Pack
For customers looking to create a real statement with their Speed Pack XKR Coupe, the new optional Black Pack allows them to own a bold and purposeful Jaguar with undeniable visual impact thanks to menacing gloss black wheels and exterior detailing.

Available only with the Speed Pack, XKRs fitted with the Black Pack have a paint palette selected from colours that Jaguar’s Design team believe to be ideal for creating a coupe with immediate exclusivity. The Black Pack models will be available in Ultimate Black, Polaris White or Salsa Red and boast eye-catching 20-inch gloss black Kalimnos alloy wheels.

Further gloss black finishing is applied to the window surrounds and front grilles. Red painted brake callipers contrast strongly with the black alloy wheels, while body coloured front and rear spoilers and boot lid finisher round out the package. Customers also have the option to apply a sweeping ‘XKR’ side body graphic that runs along the door sills.

Jaguar’s Design Director, Ian Callum, says the new Black Pack is a fitting addition to the XKR: “While Jaguars are about beauty, they are also about speed and power. With the optional Black Pack you can now add a sense of drama and severity to that performance.”

In addition to the Black Pack’s exterior changes, the Jaguar Designers’ Choice programme has also selected a range of interior trims that support the visual impact of the car. All XKRs with the Black Pack will be trimmed with Charcoal leather hides that can be personalised with a range of colour stitching and grain. Three interior finishes and veneers for the fascia and door trims are also available – Dark Oak, Dark Mesh Aluminium and Piano Black.

Other enhancements for 11MY
To underline the XKR’s sporting credentials at 11MY red brake callipers become standard on all XKR Coupe and Convertible models.

A tyre repair Instant Mobility System (IMS) becomes standard on all XK and XKR models. This frees up the 30-litre wheel well, which is now carpeted and can hold a specially designed and tailored XK accessory suitcase, substantially increasing the versatility of the car.

In the UK, retail pricing of the XK range starts at £61,955 for the 5.0 n/a V8 petrol. The Speed Pack costs £3,500 and the Speed and Black Pack costs £4,000. Both are available on XKR Coupe only. For more information go to www.jaguar.co.uk.

Following the successful launch of the 3.0-litre diesel engine and the XFR in 2009, Jaguar is introducing a number of key enhancements to the XF range for 2010.

Spearheading the updated range is the much-acclaimed 275 PS Diesel S model, which will now feature some of the unique sporting character of the XFR to deliver an even more exciting driving experience.

To further boost the appeal of the award-winning XF line-up, the entry price is now less than £30,000, with the 3.0-litre V6 petrol Luxury model priced at a highly competitive £29,900.

Sporting and Sophisticated – The Enhanced XF Diesel S
The 275 PS high-performance XF Diesel S model is significantly enhanced for MY11, taking the lead from the stunning XFR model to provide drivers with superior driving dynamics, a more striking appearance and an upgraded interior which offers the ultimate in sporting luxury.

The MY11 XF Diesel S now comes with an XFR derived interior as standard while the Adaptive Dynamics system, currently featured on the XFR and XK range, is available as an option on the high-performance diesel.

“We have applied the lessons learned from the XFR to bring more sophisticated, sporting driving dynamics to the Diesel S model,” explained Mike Cross, Chief Engineer, Vehicle Integrity. “Fitted with the state-of-the-art Adaptive Dynamics system, the latest Diesel S provides driving enthusiasts with taut handling and superb body control, but without the noise and harshness often associated with ‘sports’ suspension packages.”

Jaguar’s Adaptive Dynamics system is featured in one of the two new option packs which are available exclusively on the XF Diesel S in 2010 to further enhance the driver’s enjoyment of the performance characteristics of this car – the Dynamics Pack and the Aerodynamic Pack.

Dynamics Pack. The Dynamics Pack incorporates the Adaptive Dynamics system. This high-tech system analyses chassis movement and driver and wheel inputs 500 times every second, continually adjusting the suspension to improve handling without loss of comfort. The result improves on the XF’s already impressive handling and strikes a clever balance between a luxury ride and sports car agility. This optional pack also includes Shadow or Silver finish 20-inch Volans five-spoke alloy wheels, and costs from £1250 depending on model.

Aerodynamic Pack. The Aerodynamic Pack is designed to give an even bolder style to the XF Diesel S. The striking new black mesh inserts for the grille and lower air intakes give a fresh look to the front of the car and for even greater visual impact, the sculpted lower air intake blades can be supplied with bright-white LED daytime running lights. The side sills from an XFR complete the package. The cost of this option pack is £1500, or £2000 with the LED lights.

Performance Interior. The enhancements to the MY11 Diesel S are completed by the interior, which now features the superior specification from the XFR as standard, providing the 275 PS diesel model with the ultimate sporting luxury interior. The upgraded cabin includes the leather sports seats from the XFR, featuring 18-way adjustment for the driver and 14-way for the passenger. Power-adjusted raised side bolsters will keep driver and passenger firmly in place during cornering, while the rest of the cabin’s sporting style is enhanced with the high-gloss Piano Black veneer and Jet Suedecloth headlining available as an option on Premium Luxury and Portfolio Diesel S models.

New Colours Across the Range

Polaris White is a new colour for the MY11 XF range, replacing Porcelain. Red brake callipers are also available to order as a no cost option on XFR models and black mesh inserts for the grille also become standard on the XFR and Diesel S.

XF Sports Saloon Now Starts at Under £30,000
The final change for the XF range in 2010 is the entry price. An XF 3.0 V6 petrol Luxury will now be priced at £29,900 on the road.

The XF Luxury model includes many luxurious features as standard. Bond Grain leather seats; Phosphor Blue halo illumination and interior mood lighting; seven-inch full colour touch-screen display with Navigation and Bluetooth technology; six-speed automatic transmission with Jaguar Sequential ShiftTM and Jaguar Sense and Jaguar Smart Key SystemTM with Keyless Start. The Luxury model comes in a selection of 13 colours and has five different alloy wheel designs to choose from.

Geoff Cousins, Managing Director, Jaguar UK said: “With more than 19,000 XFs now on the road in the UK the momentum continues and we have celebrated winning more than 60 international awards for XF since it launched in 2008.

“While our class-leading diesel engine is by far the most popular engine in the range, we would like to appeal to low mileage drivers who do not necessarily want or need to drive a diesel. By reducing the entry price for the XF range to less than £30,000 for the 3.0-litre petrol model, we have made our four door saloon even better value for money.”

<img src="http://motoring-news.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/02/090210jag+.jpg" alt="" title="090210jag+" width="350" height="185" align="left" size-full wp-image-2840" />Industry experts predict that the new Jaguar XJ will have class-leading residual values; better than Audi, BMW and Mercedes-Benz over the next three years.

EurotaxGlass’s publish the car industry’s residual value bible – the Glass’s Guide – that the trade use to value cars of all ages. Their independent experts predict that a new Jaguar XJ, which will be launched in March 2010, will be worth more than the equivalent Audi, BMW and Mercedes-Benz after both 12 months and three years of ownership.

Jason King, Head of Market Intelligence for EurotaxGlass’s, said: “The exterior design of the new XJ is certainly stunning, bringing a bold, fresh approach to the luxury car segment. This bold design is sure to appeal to a wider and much younger audience, building on the fine work of the XF in helping the Jaguar brand redefine itself and appeal to a younger buyer.

“We’re not surprised to see the Jaguar going head-to-head with the Mercedes S-class, traditionally the industry-leader for these retained values. The XJ offers interiors, levels of equipment and overall quality more familiar to buyers of models offered by the other great British luxury car brands, like Bentley and Aston Martin, so we are expecting that the appeal of the new XJ will be very strong. This will translate into strong demand from the used car buyer of the future, and our analysis suggests that this strong residual value position will remain for some time.”

For the customer, a strong residual value not only protects your investment, but it also means that car finance packages are more affordable at the time of purchase. The Jaguar is already competitively priced (starting from £53,775), against the best in the segment and having such a strong residual value position means that the XJ will offer an even more attractive cost of ownership.

The research carried out by EurotaxGlass’s suggests that the new 3.0-litre diesel XJ will retain more than the equivalent Mercedes-Benz S-class after 12 months or 20,000 miles and an astonishing 40 per cent of its value after three years and 60,000 miles of motoring, which is better than the Mercedes-Benz by two percentage points.

Geoff Cousins, Managing Director, Jaguar UK said: “The Jaguar XJ is a perfect car of choice for every chairman and chief executive in British boardrooms. It is the ultimate package for a sporting luxury saloon. When you add class-leading residual values to the list of the XJ’s attributes I believe that it is the car for Britain’s business leaders.”

Richard Crosthwaite, Prestige Car Editor at EurotaxGlass’s added: “It’s not just the new XJ that has impressed us. The XF has been an amazing success for Jaguar and has been rewarded with cast iron residuals, outperforming the sector. Its used car values are incredibly impressive with a one year value on a diesel XF standing at 80 per cent – the next best comparable in the sector at 72 per cent and the worst is 55 per cent. Let’s hope the next decade sees more of the same for Jaguar – great designs, controlled volume and a truly prestigious and exclusive brand going from strength to strength.”

As a continuation of this great heritage, Jaguar can confirm it will return to the famed Le Mans 24 hours. With a total of seven wins between 1951 and 1990, Jaguar is the single most successful British make in the race’s history. Jaguar will return to Le Mans this year lining up on the starting grid on 12th June 2010 with an XKR GT2 run by JaguarRSR.

Paul Gentilozzi, Principal Partner, JaguarRSR commented: “We are delighted the ACO has granted us entry in the prestigious 24 hours of Le Mans. It is a race that is held dearly in the hearts of motorsport fans across the world and for Jaguar to be racing again is something special.

“We are fortunate to bring an international line up of the world’s finest driving talent including Scott Pruett and Marc Goossens as our drivers for this race.”

Gentilozzi, who will drive the JaguarRSR XKR GT2 in the 2010 American Le Mans Series (ALMS) added: “Spirits will be high around Jaguar’s return to Le Mans but we must remember the incredibly high level of competition – a podium place in our category will not fall into our hands. That said, I can guarantee 100 per cent commitment from JaguarRSR and urge fans of Jaguar and Britain’s racing heritage to support the team whole heartedly.”

C.J. O’Donnell, Global Marketing Director of Jaguar Cars said: “Motorsport has always been important to the Jaguar brand. Our domination of Le Mans in the 1950s was a foundation on which the company was developed. It was twenty years ago that Jaguar last won Le Mans with a TWR Jaguar Sport entry driven by John Nielsen, Price Cobb and Martin Brundle. Returning to Le Mans will reignite excitement for the marque across the globe, all the more poignant in our 75th year.

“With the introduction of the new XK, XF and XJ, the Jaguar brand has advanced cutting-edge technology, stunning design and our ‘R’ performance driving experience. We now return to motorsport to demonstrate this achievement and the prowess of the Jaguar XKR.”

In 1951, the C-type won Le Mans at its first attempt, with a further victory in 1953. The D-type took Le Mans wins in 1955, 1956 and 1957 while this racing success was followed in 1988 with the Jaguar XJR-9LM, a V12-powered Group C car. Another outright victory would follow in 1990 with the Jaguar XJR-12.

Examples of the earliest models – including founder Brian Lister’s first car, through the classic Lister ‘knobbly’ and Costin-bodied models and onto the 1990s’ Storm, which saw the name’s revival, will be reunited with the man behind the marque.

Their appearance coincides with a book written by highly-regarded Jaguar enthusiast Paul Skilleter, which chronicles the company’s sports cars, their founder Brian Lister and their successes during the late-1950s.

Closely associated with driver Archie Scott-Brown, Listers originally used MG and Bristol engines, but the switch to Jaguar engines and the shape of the car, dubbed ‘knobbly’, brought the company unparalleled success and exposure.

A later model, designed by then-leading aerodynamicist Frank Costin shepherded in a new cleaner, wind-cheating appearance, but didn’t repeat the success of earlier models.

Those earlier models proved successful in the fledgling historic motor sport scene, but the Lister name was revived in the 1990s with an all-new (but still Jaguar-powered) sports car. Laurence Pearce’s 600bhp Lister Storm ran at Le Mans and at Daytona, bringing home both the FIA GT Drivers’ and Teams’ Championship in 2000.

Brian Lister, who has provided major input to Paul Skilleter’s book, will be on hand to sign copies at Race Retro. Enthusiasts can buy a copy at an exclusive show discount to its normal retail price.

Adult ticket prices for Race Retro start from just £20 for Friday and £15 for Saturday and Sunday when booking in advance or upgrade to a VIP ticket with fantastic hospitality and a chance to meet our special guests. Children’s tickets are £5 on Friday or Saturday and free on Sunday. Parking is also free throughout. The show is open from 9.30am each day and closes at 5.30pm on Friday and Saturday and 4.30pm on Sunday. To book tickets and for the latest updates, visit www.raceretro.com

Jaguar Canada comes to the Montreal International Auto Show to debut its all-new 2011 XJ. The entire 2010 Model Year lineup featuring the 2011 XJ will be on display for press review January 14 and available during the public show days from January 15 – 24.

Building on the success of the XK and XF, the new XJ is the third step in the revitalization of the Jaguar brand and redefines the world’s perception of a large sports sedan. The all-new XJ will be available in both standard and long wheelbase models. The long wheelbase offers an even more sumptuous and refined environment for rear-seat passengers with an additional five inches of legroom while the XJ’s trunk features power opening and closing for convenient access to the over 430 litre storage space (with standard alloy space saver spare wheel).

The all-new Jaguar XJ brings new standards of sustainability to the luxury vehicle segment. Its lightweight aluminum structure makes it at least 136 kilograms lighter than steel body construction. Jaguar also minimizes the XJ’s carbon footprint in a truly meaningful way: in production, three tons fewer CO2 per vehicle is emitted thanks to the use of recycled materials, compared to a body shell made entirely of new aluminum. These aerospace-inspired aluminum body technologies also provide benefits to performance, handling and fuel economy, while delivering increased strength, refinement and safety.

The first impression of the all-new XJ is its visual assertiveness. The XJ’s sleek lines are complemented by a taut waistline, which further accentuates the impression of length and elegance, and creates a natural tension as it fades from the front arches into the middle section of the car, before reappearing as a strong haunch towards the rear.
The all-new XJ offers a modern reinterpretation of a number of key, historic XJ design cues while maintaining the highest standards of personal luxury. The strong, muscular lower half of the car contrasts with the slim and graceful quality of the roofline. This is a direct influence from the original 1968 XJ sedan.

The standard panoramic glass roof is an integral part of the all-new XJ’s design, allowing a lower, more streamlined roof, while dramatically contributing to the feeling of natural light and space inside. The LED taillight clusters wrap dramatically over the rear fenders, and feature three red vertical strips. The lengthy, stretched teardrop shape of the side windows establishes the car’s silhouette. A pure, sculpted shape dominates the XJ’s rear. With a conscious absence of ornamentation, the trunk features only a single leaping Jaguar and the “XJ” logotype.

The all-new 2011 XJ’s face looks confident, with a wide front track and short overhang contributing to fine proportions. Jaguar’s new design language contributes the bold, assertive nose. Jaguar’s mesh grille and slim Xenon headlights create a strong road presence while the wrap-around rear screen reduces the visual weight of the roof pillars and gives the impression of an exotic floating roof.

Sleek design and refined luxury is continued inside the all-new XJ by mixing newly advanced technologies and contemporary design. Jaguar designers have created an environment more akin to a state-of-the-art living space than a car cabin. The interior creates a sense of personal space enhanced by clean, simple forms from the instrument panel sitting low across the vehicle. An analog clock with individual chrome chaplets, a spun metal face and iridescent blue background provides a look inspired by fine timepieces.

The all-new XJ’s cabin is a marvel in its own right, blending elegant, contemporary design with the comfort, luxury and unmistakable sporting style of a Jaguar. Chrome and piano black detailing provide an eye-catching contrast to beautifully crafted leather and wood surfaces. Complementing the all-new cabin is a level of colors, woods and leather choices not seen before in a Jaguar. The four models – XJ, XJL, Supercharged and Supersport – allow customers to tailor the car to their personal tastes. The 510-hp XJ Supersport is the top iteration of this, providing the ultimate expression of performance and luxury (custom order only) with a leather headliner, semi-aniline leather seats and woods with laser-generated inlays.

Stunning, 12.3-inch (312 mm) high-definition Virtual Instruments(TM) complement an innovative 8-inch (203 mm) touch-screen displays vehicle functions ranging from audio and video to navigation and climate control. The top audio experience is provided by a 1,200-watt Bowers & Wilkins surround sound system, standard on supercharged models and optional on the naturally aspirated XJ and XJL. Combining 20 Bowers & Wilkins speakers powered through 15 channels and state-of-the-art sound processing technology, the result is jaw-dropping sound quality tailored to the interior of the XJ. Comprehensive connectivity for portable audio and video devices are linked via the powerful Media Hub.
The all-new XJ’s beauty is much more than skin-deep. All engines transmit power through an enhanced version of Jaguar’s acclaimed electronically controlled, six-speed automatic transmission which has a fully-adaptive shift system that delivers extremely smooth gear changes and works to balance performance and economy.

The new XJ will be available in Canada with a choice of three engines. The 5.0-litre, 385-hp naturally aspirated V8 is standard. One can opt for the XJ Supercharged, powered by a 470-hp supercharged V8. Finally, a 510-hp supercharged V8 is dedicated to the Supersport model. All three engines combine deft performance, unparalleled character, peerless pedigree, and have a classic Jaguar blend of strength and precision.

This success has been led by both the XK and XF models – with sales increasing by 78.4 per cent and 149 per cent respectively for the month.

Geoff Cousins, Managing Director, Jaguar UK said: ‘The momentum for XF just keeps on going. We have now sold more XF models so far this year, in its second year in showrooms, than we did at the same point in 2008, when we launched. Selling 9128 XF so far this year compared to 8462 sales year to date in 2008 is a great result. This result highlights the demand we continue to see for XF in our showrooms following the introduction of the excellent new 3.0-litre diesel engine.

‘The success of both the new XF and XK models demonstrates excitement and interest in the new range of Jaguar cars. I am delighted these figures reflect a step forward for Jaguar UK within a challenging market and I expect it to continue when the new XJ joins the line-up in 2010.’

In the UK, retail pricing of the XF range starts at £32,900 for the 3.0-litre petrol. The 3.0-litre diesel model is available from £33,900 while the 3.0-litre Diesel S starts at £36,900. For more information go to www.jaguar.co.uk.

Jaguar is at work on a compact five-door coupe, roughly along the lines of Audi’s new A5 Sportback, Inside Line has learned. Code-named RD7, the new car is an evolution of the RD6 concept unveiled in 2003.

The five-door coupe features suicide rear doors, a side-hinged tailgate arrangement borrowed from the XK-E coupe, and a 2.7-liter V6 diesel engine. The preceding RD6 was positioned as a low-volume niche model replacement for the unsuccessful Jaguar X-Type. The demise of this model, already withdrawn from the U.S. and in its last months of life in Europe, will leave Jaguar with no entrant in the huge compact premium sedan segment, and a model range that starts part-way up the segment above. So the exploration of a new entry-level sedan/coupe is pressing.

The company has reportedly been considering both three- and five-door versions of the hatchback RD7 but will likely limit itself to the higher volume five-door, which could be based on a shrunken version of the XF’s steel body architecture.

But it is likely to be some way off. Jaguar’s next major new model debut will be its new sport car, code-named XE, which is a spiritual successor to the legendary XK-E. It will probably be unveiled in 2011, 50 years after its ancestor, in anticipation of a 2012 on-sale date.

Senior insiders say that the company lacks the resources to fast-track either model, despite the fact that the sports car is based on a cut-down version of the existing XK platform. So RD7 is probably a good four years away. However, heavily modified Jaguar S-Type mules have been recently spotted near Jaguar’s engineering center.

The all-new Jaguar XJ will take Knightsbridge by storm this autumn with the opening of a unique luxury viewing room at the Berkeley hotel.

Owned and managed by Maybourne Hotel Group, The Berkeley is situated in Knightsbridge, in the heart of London’s luxury shopping district, making it an ideal home for one of the world’s most luxurious brands. The Berkeley will play host to Jaguar’s new flagship model until December this year.

Mike O’Driscoll, Managing Director of Jaguar Cars, said: “Creating this unique space is part of an ongoing relationship between Jaguar and Maybourne Hotel Group. This new relationship between two thoroughly modern, yet quintessentially British, brands, represents another key element of our innovative marketing plan for the all-new XJ.

“By creating this contemporary space in such a prime London location, we will not only be able to entertain potential XJ customers from the UK, we can reach a huge number of foreign business men and women who make The Berkeley their hotel of choice when visiting the city. Potential customers will have to wait until the end of the year before this new model will be in Jaguar dealerships, making this extended visit to The Berkeley a great opportunity to view the car in the metal.”

Stephen Alden, Maybourne’s Chief Executive Officer said: “The spirit of The Berkeley culture is built around all aspects of exquisite innovation and Jaguar’s XJ model captures this same essence. Our venture together is a natural match and we are delighted with the partnership.”

The ‘look and feel’ of this Jaguar space is consistent with the approach taken by the brand at the Saatchi Gallery for the XJ’s global reveal event which took place in July.
