Mazda MX-5 tuner BBR has joined forces with Cosworth Engineering, the premier motorsport engineering company in the UK, to deliver an exciting performance upgrade package for the latest 2.0-litre, 158 bhp Mk3 Mazda MX-5.

The BBR-Cosworth collaboration unleashes a supercharger conversion for the Mk3, 2.0-litre MX-5 that centres around a state of the art 4th generation Eaton MP62 supercharger. A compact, reliable, quiet design that’s well proven in original equipment fitments across the world, the Eaton supercharger is mated to a Cosworth designed cast integral inlet manifold, which is optimised for both performance and fuel economy.

Since launch in 2009, the second-generation Mazda3 has proven to be one of the C-segment’s most attractive competitors. Its original line-up of two different body styles – a sporty 5-door hatchback and an athletic Saloon – seven engines, a sports grade and the high-performance Mazda3 MPS, has been a big hit with European and UK customers looking for stylish driving fun in a compact car.

Mazda is strengthening this successful line-up even further with the launch of an updated Euro 5 compliant 1.6-litre MZ-CD common-rail diesel engine, now with a six-speed manual transmission. It produces 85kW/115ps at 3,600rpm and 270Nm of torque across a wider engine speed range of 1,750-to-2,700rpm. This new version uses just 4.4 litres of fuel per 100km (64.2mpg) on the combined cycle and produces 117g/km of CO2. Its new, simpler low-friction two-valve SOHC (single overhead camshaft) layout and its aluminium block make this engine lightweight and compact.

The significantly upgraded Mazda2 model range is now on sale in the UK priced from £9,995 (on-the-road). The nine-strong line-up of three-door and five-door hatchbacks offers customers a choice of three petrol and one diesel powertrains and four generous equipment levels. Responding to public demand, two new models are added to the range – an automatic model (with a 1.5-litre engine and four-speed transmission) and the ‘Tamura‘ offering sporty looks at a high-value price.
