Nissan 370Z: BACK TO BLACK

NISSAN SUNDERLAND PLANT TO RE-LAUNCH 3rd SHIFT


59622-c-nis+.jpgNissan is to launch a temporary third production shift at its manufacturing plant in Sunderland in response to continuing high demand for the award-winning Qashqai.

Throughout 2009 the plant has been working hard to satisfy orders on two shifts, but sales of the popular crossover have now reached levels where demand is out-stripping supply.

And the model will become even more desirable in March when an extensively updated version goes on sale across Europe.

NISSAN REMAINS UK’S LARGEST CAR PRODUCER


59605nis+.jpgNissan Sunderland Plant has been recognised as the UK’s largest car producer for the 12th year running.

Figures published by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) show that the 338,150 units manufactured in Sunderland last year accounted for more than a third of the 999,460 passenger cars produced in the UK in 2009.

The achievement means Sunderland has been the country’s biggest car plant since 1998.

Last year the plant’s highest volume car was Qashqai with nearly 200,000 manufactured. Already, well over half a million Qashqais have now been produced in Sunderland since its launch in 2007.
