SAAB AND SPYKER CEOs TO DRIVE CLASSIC SAABS ON MILLE MIGLIA


60448saa-110.jpgItalian hillsides are about to reverberate again to the distinctive crackle of a Saab two-stroke engine.  Providing the soundtrack will be Saab Automobile CEO Jan Åke Jonsson and Saab Automobile Chairman and Spyker Cars CEO Victor Muller, who will each drive a 1957-vintage Saab 93 at this year’s historic Mille Miglia road race.

NEW SAAB 9-5 READY TO ROLL


60321-e-saab.jpgFrom the frozen wastes of northern Sweden to the baking plains of southern Spain, Saab’s chief test driver Peter Johansson and his small team of chassis experts have driven on some of the most challenging roads in Europe to fine-tune the dynamics of the next generation Saab 9-5. 

Peter and his team clocked up more than 500,000 kilometres, the equivalent of driving 12 times round the world, in their quest to find the best set-up. That meant optimising two different suspension layouts, front and all-wheel-drive transmissions, passive and adaptive chassis functions and two steering systems with different brakes, wheel sizes and tyres, as well as five powertrain options.

SAAB RESUMES CAR PRODUCTION


60122-d-saa.jpgThe production lines at Saab Automobile’s state-of-the-art Trollhättan plant began rolling again today, heralding a new era for the Swedish premium car maker as an independent company. To mark the occasion, Saab Automobile CEO Jan Åke Jonsson, Spyker Cars CEO Victor Muller and Trollhättan Plant Director Gunnar Brunius took up positions on the line alongside assembly workers as the first batch of cars was built.

Production at the Trollhättan plant was originally halted for seven weeks. Now, following the purchase of Saab Automobile AB by Spyker Cars NV, the first cars to be built by Saab as an independent company will soon be delivered to customers. Continue reading »
