Suzuki GB has announced its latest Special Edition Grand Vitara model, SZ-T, which goes on sale this week. SZ-T is based on the popular five door 1.9DDiS model and offers a unique enhanced specification with just 500 cars available.

The SZ-T model is available for £22,315 including metallic paint and has a comprehensive list of standard equipment including new design front grille, new design 18-inch alloy wheels, unique contrasting seat fabric, Silver coloured roof rails and bonnet side vents, built in turn signal lamps for the door mirrors and, for this Special Edition, a tailgate mounted spare wheel. Cruise Control and keyless entry and start are also included.

The Euro 5 emissions 1.9-litre DDiS engine has a power output of 129PS with torque of 300Nm from just 2,000rpm offering strong flexibility when overtaking or driving off road. In combined cycle driving, the DDiS model returns 41.5mpg with emissions of 179g/km.

Suzuki launched its first Vitara 24 years ago, creating the world’s first compact SUV and tapping into a new market for vehicles that deliver true off-road performance with responsive, fun-to-drive on-road performance. Since then the stylish and versatile SUV has steadily evolved and kept pace with growing demand for good-looking and versatile 4x4s that are as rewarding on the open road as they are motoring off the beaten track. Grand Vitara remains a true off roader with its switchable low / high ratio Four Wheel Drive system.

SZ-T is available in five metallic colours: Quasar Grey, Silky Silver, Blueish Black Pearl, Phoenix Red Pearl and Nocturne Blue Pearl.

Following the launch of the new and highly acclaimed V-Strom 650 ABS earlier this year, Suzuki has announced the availability of three new accessory packs, giving owners of the new adventure bike a pack for the daily commute, weekend away or continental tour.

For those looking for extra practicality, the ‘Tourer Pack’ priced at £499 including fitment and VAT, offers useful additions. Further enhancing the V-Strom’s already great universal attributes, the pack features a Knuckle Guard set, providing handy protection from the elements, a useful 14 litre magnetic Tank Bag, Tank Protector, a styled Under Cowling, Accessory Bar and branded Chain Guard. All together, this offers customers a saving of £121 over the individual parts and labour price.

For those looking to cover larger distances, the new Adventure Pack priced at £999 including fitment and VAT is THE choice. Offering all the features of the Tourer Pack (excluding the Tank Bag), the Adventure version offers the useful Vario Touring Screen, allowing the rider to set the level of weather protection to suit, as well as a maintenance-friendly Centre Stand and a 42-litre Top Case set too, saving the customer £291 over individual parts prices.

And for those looking for more practicality and luggage capacity, then the ‘GT Pack’ offers it all, combining virtually every component from the Adventure Pack, but with additional carrying capacity, thanks to side cases providing a useful 70-litres of extra luggage space too. Priced at £1,299 including fitment and VAT, the kit offers a saving of £360 on the individual parts and labour costs.

With all V-Strom packs available now from authorised Suzuki dealers, customers who choose their kit as they purchase their machine new, also get the advantage of a two-year, unlimited mileage warranty on all components too.

Total Global sales to date of 23,000 units.

Initial UK introduction volume of 500 cars for 2012.

Suzuki GB is pleased to announce the UK introduction of the Kizashi Sport ‘D’ segment car with switchable 2/4WD as standard equipment. Kizashi – which in Japanese means ‘A sign of great things to come’ – represents an exciting new direction for the company and has been developed as the flagship model in the Global Suzuki passenger car line-up.

The Kizashi redefines the traditional performance saloon and moves the Suzuki brand upscale without abandoning Suzuki’s traditional emphasis on content and value. Furthermore, its active and energetic identity, a core component of the Suzuki brand DNA, is augmented by the vehicle’s overall mission to provide strong yet refined performance.

The Sport model features a host of external and internal modifications that include a muscular front fascia (with chrome accents) and lower grille; body side sill extensions; lower body side mouldings with chrome accents; custom lightweight 18-inch alloy wheels and a unique sport steering wheel with contrasting stitching for its leather seats, gear shift surround and parking brake boot.

Kizashi is Suzuki’s first mid size saloon car and comfortably accommodates up to five people and their luggage needs, while retaining a sleek and stylish look. Exterior dimensions are length-width-height of 4,650mm x 1,820mm x 1,470mm making it one of the most compact ‘D’ segment saloon cars.

The spacious interior offers plenty of leg and shoulder room, even for rear seat passengers. Space is not the only factor in ensuring plenty of on-board comfort: the shape and position of the seats are designed to support a natural posture, a key factor in comfortable long-distance travel. Additionally, ideal seat heights and large door apertures make access easy for all on board.

For added practicality, the Kizashi features a through loading system to allow for longer items to be loaded from the boot. The rear seats divide 60:40 to accommodate seating for one or two rear passengers or none, making full use of the extra boot space available. A ‘ski bag’ style load through facility is also installed for carrying longer items.

Kizashi Sport is highly equipped as standard including seven airbags; four electric windows, MP3/WMA compatible CD tuner with eight speakers, Dual Zone automatic air conditioning, 18-inch alloy wheels, keyless entry and start and folding heated door mirrors. The sole option for Kizashi will be a touch screen satellite navigation system, available as a dealer fit.

In combined cycle driving, it has a combined fuel consumption of 34.0 mpg with CO2 emissions of 191g/km.

For the UK market, the responsive 178hp four cylinder engine is connected to a performance-tuned Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) that delivers the driving experience consumers demand. The transmission is fitted with an additional shift lever gate as well as switches behind the steering wheel. This helps fully optimise driver control as the system can be operated manually through the available programme of six speeds.

An exceptionally rigid steel body with a reinforced front suspension and a multi-link rear suspension constructed from aluminium allows for crisp, nimble handling with excellent stability, a sophisticated ride and reduced chassis vibration. Kizashi’s sophisticated braking system offers standard four-wheel disc brakes and includes suppliers such as Akebono, a world-leader in noise, vibration and harshness (NVH) and a leading brake supplier for Japan’s famed bullet trains.

Safety Features

The Kizashi incorporates a long list of standard safety equipment including seven airbags; Electronic Stability Programme; anti-lock braking system with electronic brake-force distribution; and to further enhance driver confidence, the Kizashi also offers a reinforced rigid chassis for added stability and control.

All Weather Capability

Kizashi for the UK market is fitted as standard with Suzuki’s latest intelligent all-wheel-drive system (i-AWD) which is quite a rare option in the ‘D’ segment as this performance feature is more often found among luxury cars. Engineered to provide outstanding traction in inclement weather, the sophisticated all wheel drive system delivers both enhanced traction in low friction situations as well as enhanced cornering capabilities.

When driving in dry and normal conditions, the i-AWD system can also be operated in two wheel drive mode where drive is predominantly to the front wheels with minimum torque transmitted to the rear wheels; this is simply operated via a switch on the dashboard and can be altered when the car is in motion.

In four wheel drive (i-AWD) mode the system sends power to the rear wheels immediately upon acceleration, with torque split – up to 50:50 front/rear – remaining dependent on several factors including wheel slippage and throttle and steering input.

When in i-AWD mode, the control system monitors the vehicle operating conditions via sensors and, based on these sensed conditions will control the system power coupling device so that optimum torque is delivered to the rear wheels. This function improves driving performance on rough roads and stabilises performance in slippery conditions including snow covered ascents.

Premium Feel

Suzuki has taken advantage of its expertise in the compact car segment to efficiently execute spacious interior proportions that afford comfort and practicality while minimising wasted space. Along with cabin proportions that reward Kizashi drivers and passengers with comfort and roominess, Suzuki provides a contemporary, upscale interior feel (including standard sport seats) in line with the vehicle’s on-road performance characteristics. Driving enthusiasts will appreciate Kizashi’s sporty, elegant and informative instrument panel, while consumers seeking a luxury saloon will be pleased with the vehicle’s leather seating and premium quality materials used. The Kizashi also offers extensive sound insulation to help suppress road, tyre and wind noise.

Stainless-steel exhaust covers reflect inspiration from Suzuki’s motorcycle designs. The boot lid is both slim and rigid thanks to an advanced joining technique known as laser brazing (a first among Suzuki cars) and the brush-stroke-style ‘Kizashi’ emblem combines spirit and Japanese tradition.

The interior design gives a contemporary, upscale feel. The ‘sporty and elegant’ theme is reflected in features that include a bold but elegant centre console, premium grade controls and seats, and extensive touches of tactile and visual refinement.

The main instrumentation takes the form of two cylindrically shaped meters with an information display between them, which logs instantaneous as well as average fuel consumption, range and average speed. It also incorporates a battery replacement warning for the remote key fob.

Although the Kizashi is a saloon car, it offers a level of utility that will more than satisfy people downsizing from larger saloons. Luggage-carrying convenience in the Kizashi begins with a boot that has a generous capacity of 461 litres and a 60:40-split-folding rear seatback with ski-bag facility.

Handily positioned spaces for smaller items include an illuminated glove box, a double-layer compartment under the centre-console armrest and an instrument-panel centre box ideal for an iPod®, housing the USB port and power socket.

Powertrain

Power for the Kizashi comes from a 2.4-litre DOHC in-line four cylinder engine, designated J24B. Based on the engine that made its debut in 2008 in the award winning Grand Vitara, the engine has been updated with increased power for Kizashi with modifications to inlet valve lift and also improvements to the shaping of the exhaust port.

Those improvements have helped attain excellent performance of 178PS at 6,000 rpm with 230 Nm of torque at 4,000 rpm and fuel consumption of 34.0mpg on the combined cycle.

The engine also reflects a focus on suppressing noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH). These technologies include extensive use of insulating materials and seals in the underfloor, dash, pillars and wheel wells. Engine balance shafts, acoustically tuned manifold passages and dual high-capacity silencers in the exhaust system are also used.

Driving dynamics

An exceptionally rigid steel bodyshell forms the basis for the great handling and a smooth ride in the Kizashi. Keys to the body’s high rigidity include straight under floor members, comprehensively reinforced joints and reinforced pillars, engine and suspension mounts.

The front suspension is of McPherson strut type, featuring a cradle type suspension frame which contributes to a lower centre of vehicle gravity and improved vehicle dynamics. Suspension mounting to the body is of a floating type using a bush to improve comfort and quietness and a stabiliser joint is installed on the strut assembly to further improve vehicle stability.

The front steering knuckle is made of die-cast aluminum to reduce weight around the bottom of the spring and the rear suspension consists of a multi-link arrangement including an upper arm, lower arm, control rod and trailing arm.

The multi-link type contributes to a lower centre of vehicle gravity and lower floor panel position, improving vehicle dynamics and comfort. Superb braking performance is supplied by Akebono brakes, the company that provides the braking system for Japan’s famous Bullet train.

Service intervals for Kizashi are 9,000 miles, in line with all other Suzuki models. A three year / 60,000 miles warranty is offered together with a 12 year anti-perforation warranty. The insurance group rating is 26.

All new Swift Sport – on sale from January 2012 – Priced at £13,500.

New Euro 5 1.6-ltre 136hp VVT engine – offers improved torque together with 10 per cent lower combined fuel consumption of 44.1mpg.

Exhaust emissions of 147g/km – 10 per cent lower than previous Swift Sport model.

New design six speed manual transmission fitted as standard.

Insurance Group 18 – down 5 groups over previous model Swift Sport

Specification includes auto air conditioning, fog lamps, push button start, cruise control, Bluetooth connectivity, HID Projector headlamps with headlamp wash and rear privacy glass.

ESP and seven airbags fitted as standard.

0-62mph in 8.7 seconds, max speed 121mph.

Global Swift sales of 2.2 million since May 2005.

UK Swift Sport sales of around 6,000 since launch in May 2006.

The Swift Sport is the performance flagship of the Swift model range and offers higher levels of tuning, steering and braking performance than the standard Swift on which it’s based. The sporting experience and everyday practicality of the previous model have earned many devoted fans in approximately 40 countries and territories around the world.

The new Swift Sport has the same DNA as its predecessor, but reflects the concept of developing a refined sport compact from the new Swift 1.2 litre launched in the UK late last year. Befitting its status as the new performance flagship of the Swift model range, it reflects the pursuit of even better handling, driving performance, environmental compatibility and an uncompromising focus on quality. Overall, it offers a rewarding experience of Suzuki’s sporting DNA.

Now, Suzuki has realised even higher levels of Swift performance and styling and combined them with improved fuel economy and environmental performance to create a sports compact that is an ideal match for today’s needs. The result is the all-new Swift Sport.

The new Swift Sport’s exterior design reflects the model’s evolution towards a more sporting look. Aerodynamic parts exclusive to the new Swift Sport control the airflow, suppress lift and give the car a lower visual centre of gravity. Newly developed High-Intensity Discharge (HID) headlamps with a metallic-grey coating as well as new design rear combination lamps heighten the sense of dynamism expressed by the exterior design.

Sporty, exclusive design features in the new Swift Sport’s cabin heighten the driving pleasure and a high-quality look and feel generates pleasure of ownership with new design sport seats in an exclusive fabric together with a five-dial meter cluster that combines easy legibility with an uncluttered look.

Greater toe and camber rigidity for the torsion beam, greater lateral rigidity in the torsion-beam bushings and larger rear wheel bearings enhance stability at the rear under hard cornering. Increased spring rates for the front and rear coil springs and the addition of rebound springs in the front suspension struts significantly contribute to stability by providing greater roll stiffness. Modifications to the steering-gearbox member, suspension-frame member as well as larger front wheel bearings all boost yaw response, resulting in handling that has evolved even further from that of the previous Swift Sport.

Engine
The new Swift Sport’s M16A engine is based on that of the previous model and now offers more power combined with lower emissions. Thanks to the addition of a variable intake system, optimisation of the intake VVT (Variable Valve Timing) and increased valve lift, maximum output is up from 92kW (123bhp) to an impressive 100kW (136hp) with the new model. Maximum torque is up from 148Nm to 160Nm at a slightly lower engine speed of 4,400rpm enabling the driver to enjoy superb performance across the rev range. The engine’s high output is combined with improved fuel economy; CO2 emissions are down around 10 per cent from 165g/km to 147g/km and a revised exhaust system now yields a sportier note.

Transmission [Designed for sporty, fuel-efficient driving]
The new Swift Sport’s manual transmission was developed specifically to take full advantage of the M16A engine’s performance. The use of six gears allows sporty driving combined with improved fuel economy. A triple-cone synchromesh for first and second gears permits lower shift effort and a larger counterweight at the transmission end of the shift lever yields a sporty shift action that is now lighter and more positive.

Safety [Newly evolved protection]

Comprehensive range of safety equipment

Seven airbags as standard equipment

ESP® (Electronic Stability Program) as standard equipment

The new Swift Sport represents an evolution in terms of safety. Comprehensive safety technologies mean it offers the same control and peace of mind as the new Swift.

Extensive use of high-tensile steel and computerised structural analysis keep the body light while promoting safety, There are seven airbags (including curtain and a driver’s knee airbag), and the pillars incorporate shock-absorbing materials that soften any contact with occupants’ heads. These safety enhancements have contributed strongly to the new model attaining an insurance group rating of 18 – down from Group 23 of the previous model Swift Sport.

Dimensions
The keys to the Swift’s nimble handling include wide track and a short wheelbase. With the new Sport, Suzuki carries forward these fundamental attributes and has further refined them. New dimensions combine with increased rear-suspension firmness for better straight-line and cornering stability. They also add to a road-hugging profile that communicates the new Swift Sport’s enhanced handling and performance.

The new Swift Sport’s strong presence belies compact dimensions that make it exceptionally nimble. Wide front and rear track and a short wheelbase (key characteristics of the Swift series) combine with chassis systems that include an exclusively designed rear suspension to ensure sharper handling and outstanding high-speed stability. Full dimensions compared with the previous model are as follows:

New Swift Sport is available in five metallic / pearlescent colours which are as follows:

Silky Silver metallic
Kashmir Blue Pearl metallic
Cosmic Black Pearl metallic
Cool White pearl metallic
Ablaze Red Pearl metallic

In line with other models in the Suzuki range, new Swift Sport models are covered by a three-year/60,000-mile new vehicle warranty; and by Suzuki Assistance, providing 24-hour UK and European roadside assistance, recovery and associated services for 12 months as well as a 12-year perforation warranty. Service intervals are every 9,000 miles.

Suzuki Motor Corporation has today revealed details of its 2012 flagship Superbike – the GSX-R1000, offering enhanced capability thanks to technical innovations that provide heightened engine and chassis performance as well as weight-loss for the new model.

Announced in unison across the world today, the 2012 GSX-R1000 retains its original styling but with a host of revisions all implemented to make this the very best GSX-R1000 ever produced.

Shaving two kilograms from its kerb weight, the new GSX-R features a plethora of updates, incorporating Brembo’s highly acclaimed Monoblock calipers for incredible braking and engine revisions that provide even more mid-range power.

Engine technical highlights include the adoption of MotoGP derived finite-element-analysis and fatigue-analysis techniques, which allow for newly developed pistons that are now 11% lighter and aid acceleration and overall performance. This combined with a finer material for engine tappets shaves a further 2.5 grams off per tappet, resulting in optimized valve lift with a revised exhaust cam profile for a slight reduction in valve overlap. Compression ratio also increases from 12.8:1 to 12.9:1.

Along with the utilisation of the Brembo Monoblock calipers, the 2012 GSX-R1000 features further chassis enhancements that offer greater manoeuvrability thanks to a reduction in weight for the front tyre and axle, offering superior unsprung weight advantages. This weight saving is amplified with the return to a lightweight 4-2-1 exhaust system, further enhanced with a new lightweight titanium silencer also.

With the current GSX-R1000 a proven track performer, narrowly missing out in this year’s British Superbike Championship by just 0.006 seconds, and current holder of the Brands Hatch Superbike lap record, the 2012 GSX-R1000, with its detailed update looks set to continue Suzuki’s front of the pack performance.

The 2012 GSX-R1000 will make its European debut on the Suzuki stand at the Eicma International Motorcycle Exhibition in Milan on 8th November 2011.

UK fans can see the 2012 GSX-R1000 at Motorcycle Live, stand G220, hall 4.

Suzuki’s latest addition to the Swift range, the 1.3-litre DDiS, took part in the recent 2011 MPG Marathon and has achieved a spectacular result ranking second overall in the competition. The new Swift with 67PS diesel engine was driven by Southern Group Regional journalists Dave Randle and Peter Cracknell and achieved an overall fuel consumption figure of 86.40mpg, winning the class 3 category for percentage improvement over the official combined fuel consumption figure.

The Swift achieved an overall improvement of 28.3 per cent on the combined figure of 67.3mpg with a second DDiS driven by last year’s class winners Dave Moss and Mike Hull not far behind either with a very impressive 25.8 per cent (84.6mpg).

The MPG Marathon; organised annually by Fleet World magazine took 37 competing vehicles on a challenging 372-mile route designed to reflect normal daily driving conditions and included major roads, motorways and dual carriageways. The Swift used just 19.6 litres of fuel on the route.

Speaking about the event, Dale Wyatt, Director Sales and Marketing commented; “The 2011 MPG Marathon has again been an excellent opportunity to showcase Suzuki’s commitment to producing fuel efficient, cleaner cars and this event has certainly endorsed that.”

The Swift is one of the cleanest cars in the Supermini sector with emissions of 109 g/km for the DDiS model and only 116g/km for the 1.2-litre petrol engine; it also offers low cost of ownership from its £20 annual VED charge and group 8E insurance. Until the end of the year the Swift range is available with no VAT payable which means that Swift SZ2 three-door 1.2-litre petrol now costs just £8,880. The 1.3 DDiS model is available as a five-door model in SZ3 trim at £11,125 representing a customer saving of £1,855.

Suzuki’s iconic B-King muscle bike, will take its final bow in the UK market this year, as the last few remaining models enjoy a saving of £1340 thanks to Suzuki’s September only promotion, where every model over 126cc enjoys a pound per CC price saving.

Combined with a 0%APR finance deal and a deposit of just one pound required, the mighty B-King has never been better value and with less than 30 brand new models now available in the UK, those interested should act fast.

First shown to the world as a futuristic concept bike in 2001, the B-King was brought to production in 2007, after public demand at shows, exhibitions and dealerships the world-over showed Suzuki that there was demand for such a bike. Featuring the same power-plant as Suzuki’s legendary Hayabusa, the B-King surprised the motorcycling press at its launch, with many who rode it amazed at its incredible performance and torque and yet nimble handling, despite its enormous presence.

Suzuki GB general manager, Paul de Lusignan, explained, “The B-King was really the first bike that made it from concept to dealer showrooms due to demand from our UK customers. When it was first revealed, customers were blown away by its futuristic styling and looks and from that point onwards we and our dealers were regularly asked about when it would make production. In 2007 it became reality and we were able to deliver the production model, which went on to impress testers and sell to the hardcore followers.

“The B-King is a great niche model which like the GSX1400 before it, is quickly becoming a cult bike. But this will be the last year of B-King, so potential customers should act quickly and take advantage of our September only ‘£1 per CC’ saving.”

Typical Example: B-King
On the road price: £9,629.00
Offer Price: £8,289.00
Total amount of credit: £8,288.00
23 monthly payments: £345.33
Final payment of: £345.41

The new generation Suzuki Swift Sport will make its world debut at the 64th International Motor Show (IAA), which will be held in Frankfurt, Germany, from 13 to 25 September 2011 *¹.

The new Swift Sport is a refined sport compact resulting from the first full model change since the launch of the original Swift Sport in 2006. It has a more aggressive and dignified exterior look thanks to a low-slung form that gives a sense of stability and tension, and a big front grille that evokes a sporty performance feel. The cabin combines essential sportiness with a high-quality look and feel, and design features that heighten excitement about the driving experience.

Higher power and lower fuel consumption are delivered by the 1.6-litre M16A engine, which Suzuki developed exclusively for the Swift Sport. The engine is mated to a specially developed six-speed manual transmission, resulting in performance that is both exciting and environmentally responsible. The new Swift Sport offers superior cornering stability and brisker, more responsive handling thanks to struts with internal rebound springs and an exclusive rear-suspension design.

High levels of safety are assured by features such as a light, stiff, impact-absorbing body, seven airbags (including curtain airbags and a driver’s knee airbag); and ESP® (Electronic Stability Program).

After posting the second fastest Superbike lap time of the week [129.333mph], Guy Martin has declared himself fit, healthy and ready to race – despite missing last night’s practice session along with the rest of the 2011 TT solo competitors.

A road traffic accident followed by an oil slick [dumped by a sidecar] forced the session to be abandoned. Tonight [Friday] will be the final practice available to solo competitors before tomorrow’s six-lap Superbike TT. The action gets underway at 12pm.

Guy Martin
“We’ve had a steady away practice week and as I’ve told quite a few people already, ‘the racing starts on Saturday’ so there’s no need to hang them out in practice. It’s a matter of getting everything the way we want for racing and the big GSX-R1000 Superbike is ready to race. I’ve enjoyed this week getting back out on the TT Circuit and I feel comfortable and confident on the TAS Racing bikes; everyone is doing their job and we’re happy, so let’s hope it all comes together on Saturday.”

Philip Neill – Team Manager
“Although it is still very early days it really is pleasing to get off to a good start. Guy has now completed four laps on the Superbike, two on the Superstock and two on the Supersport bike. He has declared himself happy with each of his GSX-R machines after taking the second fastest time of the week at 129.333mph; he even declared the Superbike ready to race already, although we will continue to make some very minor tweaks to help make his job that little bit easier.

“Guillaume is steadily finding his way around the TT Circuit and is enjoying the experience, although he did have a minor mishap on his first lap earlier in the week. We are obviously not concerned with his lap times at this point. It is very important that he feels completely comfortable before building up speed.

“As I say, so far so good, let’s hope it continues this way and we have some luck on our side this year!”

Suzuki has announced the addition of the low emissions 1.3-litre DDiS model to the recently launched Swift range. Available in all 148 Suzuki dealerships from June 1, the Swift DDiS uses a new 75PS 1.3-litre engine, offers low emissions of 109g/km with combined fuel consumption of 67.3mpg, giving an estimated driving range of more than 500 miles.

New Swift DDiS is available for a competitive £12,890 as a five door model with SZ3 grade which includes seven airbags; air conditioning, 16 inch alloy wheels, USB port and heated electric door mirrors as standard equipment.

The Euro 5 emissions turbo charged engine is now even smoother and more responsive than before with maximum torque of 190Nm from just 1,750rpm and 0-62mph in 12.7 seconds. It offers an eight per cent improvement in fuel consumption and produces nine per cent lower tailpipe emissions than the 1.3-litre diesel used in the previous Swift. Emissions of 109g/km mean that Swift DDiS now costs just £20 in annual VED charges.

With the Swift, driving a compact car does not mean settling for less; within its modest dimensions, Suzuki has condensed all the performance, impact safety, handling and other essentials for great enjoyment and satisfaction while easing the environmental burden.

Launched last September, the Swift range with Dual VVT 1.2-litre petrol engine starts from £10,210 for the SZ2 Three door up to £13,525 for the SZ4 Five door with automatic transmission. Emissions for the petrol engine with manual transmission are 116g/km making it one of the cleanest compact superminis on sale.

Suzuki’s all-new GSX-R600 lands in UK dealers next week, fresh from its launch at the Almeria race circuit in Spain, where it was hailed as the new king of the Supersport class.

Redesigned from the ground-up, the new GSX-R600 boasts significant advantages over its predecessor and rivals, shedding an incredible 9kg compared to the 2010 model and offering the very latest race-track inspired technology, such as Showa Big Piston Forks, Brembo Monoblock brake callipers, a 15mm shorter wheelbase and a completely revised engine too.

In the recent Motorcycle News test, where the new GSX-R600 was pitched against all of its rivals and hailed as ‘the new king of supersports’, guest tester and 500 Grand Prix winner, Simon Crafar, said, “They’ve got everything really right, it performs well and handles well. It’s the whole package.”

Performance Bikes Magazine tester Emma Franklin, said in their February 2011 issue, “The GSX-R600 is a gloriously well-balanced bike. It’s a bike that gave more pleasure than any road-bike I’ve ridden on track in the past three years.”

The new GSX-R600 has a recommended retail price of £8,799 and will arrive in authorised Suzuki dealers from 5th February.

For more information on the 2011 GSX-R600 visit your local authorised Suzuki dealer or log-on to www.gsx-r600.eu

Launched to critical acclaim earlier this year, the GSX1250FA instantly captured the imagination of the UK public and quickly topped registration figures in the Sports Tourer category too, outselling its rivals thanks to excellent mile-munching ability combined with exceptional value for money.

Suzuki GB director of sales and marketing, David Taylor, commented,”Naturally we’re delighted to accept this award from Motorcycle News. The buying public voted with their money earlier this year, making the GSX1250FA the best selling model in the sports tourer category on more than one occasion, so to be awarded Best All-Rounder by MCN really is the icing on the cake and should only reaffirm our customers belief in the GSX1250FA.”

Available in standard guise and as the sports touring ST version, which features useful additions for long distance travel such as top box and panniers, the GSX1250FA offers true all-round ability thanks to its torquey 1255cc engine, weather-cheating full-fairing and features like ABS braking as standard.

The GSX1250FA will be on display on the Suzuki stand at the forthcoming Motorcycle Live event, taking place at the NEC in Birmingham from 27th November – 5th December.

The GSX1250FA is available from all authorised Suzuki dealers with a recommended retail price starting from £7,699.

With Suzuki’s all-new GSX-R600 due to arrive in the UK early for the forthcoming 2011 season and available on the programme, the latest Supersport contenders look set to take the racing scene by storm, completely redesigned and shedding an impressive 9 kilograms over its predecessor. Featuring Showa Big Piston Forks as standard and the renowned Brembo Monoblock braking system, the new
GSX-R600 really is ready to race.

Also on the programme is Suzuki’s established and proven performer, the GSX-R1000. Ending 2010 as the fastest road racing Superbike on the planet, thanks to Relentless Suzuki by TAS racer, Bruce Anstey, the GSX-R1000 also dominated the British Superbike Championship, with more GSX-R1000s in the final shoot-out phase than any other bike.

Suzuki GB racing director, John Reynolds, commented, “After such a successful year of racing right across the board in 2010, we’re delighted to offer the competitive GSX-R range once again on the official racing programme. With the all-new GSX-R600 set to arrive in the UK early next year, along with the GSX-R750 which have both undergone complete revisions and significant weight loss, these models combined with our proven GSX-R1000 offer racers a complete range with racing pedigree. To appeal to racers in championships such as Mini Twins, we are also pleased to offer the sporty naked Gladius 650 too.”

Operational through all authorised Suzuki dealers, interested parties must be competing in any of the disciplines featured within BSB or MRO Championships. All other disciplines will be judged on a case by case basis.

The New Swift, launched just two months ago, has been awarded the ‘Best Small Car’ by the Association of Scottish Motoring Writers as well as the ‘Safety’ Award at the Annual Scottish Car of the Year Awards, held at St Andrews on Firework night.

New Swift was judged by the 20 members of the Association of Scottish Motoring Writers, scoring the most points in the ‘Small Car’ category and achieving the first award for Suzuki in the 12 year history of the SCOTY event.

John Murdoch, President of the ASMW said: “Buyers now demand from small cars the level of comfort, quality, refinement and safety once only found in executive cars. The Suzuki Swift achieves this with a sense of style and a careful eye on pricing. As a result it marks the first ever SCOTY award for Suzuki and shows how far the brand has come since our inaugural awards in 1998.”

Adding to this important award for Suzuki, new Swift also won the ‘Safety’ category for its equipment list of seven airbags, ESP and Five star NCAP crash test rating, all available across the range as standard.

Commenting further, John Murdoch, President of the ASMW said: “Turn back the clock 20 years or so and safety features like multiple airbags and ABS were reserved exclusively for top-end vehicles with a premium price tag. Today the motoring public expects them on even the most affordable products and manufacturers strive to achieve five-star Euro NCAP recognition.

“The Suzuki Swift sets new standards in the hunt for safer motoring and as a result is the inaugural winner of our Safety accolade. It is the second SCOTY gong for the Swift and in our view they are both well deserved.”

David Seward, Senior Director Sales and Marketing, comments: “At Suzuki we are well known as the small car experts and these highly prestigious awards really help reinforce that; Swift is a very important model and we are delighted that it is so highly regarded by the Scottish Motoring media.”

New Swift is available from £9,995 and is one of the cleanest petrol engine small cars on sale in the UK with combined fuel consumption of 56.5mpg, emissions of just 116g/km and an Annual VED rating of only £30.

On sale in all Suzuki dealerships this week and ready for the ‘60’ plate is the all-new Swift, Suzuki’s latest compact supermini. New Swift makes strong developments in styling, impact safety, driving performance and handling as well as offering improved fuel consumption and significantly lower emissions.

Three clearly defined specification grades have been devised; SZ2, SZ3 and SZ4. In addition to seven airbags and ESP, SZ2 has front passenger airbag deactivation facility, electric front windows, remote central door locking with deadlocks, electrically adjustable and heated door mirrors, MP3 / WMA compatible CD tuner with USB port and steering wheel mounted audio controls.

SZ3 adds manual air conditioning and 16” Alloy wheels with SZ4 including Automatic air conditioning, Bluetooth integrated audio unit with music streaming capability, electric front and rear windows, push button keyless start, Automatic headlamps, rear privacy glass (five-door models) and cruise control as standard.

Unmistakably an evolution of its predecessor, the new Swift is even better in the ways that count most: more fun to drive thanks to exhilarating, sporty handling as well as being more attractive to look at thanks to a more sophisticated modern design. It’s an even clearer reflection of Suzuki’s desire to offer a sports compact that is perfectly suited to the lifestyles and demands of today.

With the Swift, driving a compact car does not mean settling for less; within its modest dimensions, Suzuki has condensed all the performance, impact safety, handling and other essentials for great enjoyment and satisfaction while easing the environmental burden.

New Swift has even more space inside and has grown slightly in length (+90mm) with a 50mm increase in wheelbase and 10mm increase in height. The interior design now has a more dynamic feel, featuring black as its keynote colour with accents of silver throughout the car.

A new Euro 5 compliant 1.2-litre petrol engine incorporating Dual VVT (Variable intake and exhaust Valve Timing) is used that produces 94PS at 6,000rpm, slightly more than the outgoing 1.3-litre unit. Torque is also improved to 118Nm at 4,800rpm.

New Swift is even more economical than before with fuel consumption on the combined cycle now 56.5mpg for the manual transmission model, an improvement of 7.8mpg over the previous 1.3-litre unit. Emissions are much lower as well; the new 1.2-litre engine produces just 116g/km on the combined cycle; representing a 17 per cent improvement over the previous 1.3-litre unit. An optional four speed automatic transmission will also be available on SZ3 and SZ4 five door models.

A revised 1.3-litre diesel engine will be on sale from next spring; this engine emits just 109g/km (down from 119g/km) and has an impressive combined fuel consumption of 67.3mpg.

New Swift is available in nine colours – seven metallic* and two solid – which are:

Reynolds, who most notably clinched the BSB title in 2004 on his Rizla Suzuki GSX-R1000, became the first BSB champion to win on a 1000cc in-line four cylinder machine, before retiring at the end of 2005.

Still heavily involved in racing, working as Suzuki GB race director, Reynolds commented, “The GSX-R range is naturally very special to me. I clinched my last championship on one, but it’s also the bike I have the fondest memories of. I’m absolutely delighted to be given the honour of riding the GSV-R800 at Brands Hatch for the celebrations and can’t wait to put the old leathers back on and lap in front of the crowds again.”

Reynolds’ lap will be the culmination of an action-packed Suzuki weekend, that will see Alstare Suzuki World SBK riders Leon Haslam and Sylvain Guintoli demo their GSX-R1000 race machines, along with current Rizla Suzuki MotoGP star Alvaro Bautista on his GSV-R800. Fans attending on Saturday will get a special opportunity to meet with the riders, including all regular BSB stars, with Suzuki owners invited for refreshments in the Suzuki GB hospitality unit between 2PM and 5PM*.

Images include action; profile and a view of the interior design.

The all-new Swift is positioned as Suzuki’s latest world strategic model and makes further developments in design, impact safety, driving performance, handling, improved fuel consumption and significantly lower emissions at 116g/km which will make it one of the very cleanest petrol engine Superminis on sale.

Extensive use of higher strength steel makes the new car lighter and stiffer than before as well as offering refinement in underbody design. The latest body structure has also helped improve impact safety for pedestrians as well as occupants.

Variable gear ratio steering, increased track and larger diameter wheels with lower profile tyres allow for even better handling than the highly acclaimed outgoing Swift that first went on sale five years ago.

New Swift has grown in length (+90mm) with a 50mm increase in wheelbase and a slight increase in height of 10mm.

For the powertrain; a new 1.2-litre petrol engine incorporating Dual VVT (Variable intake and exhaust valve timing) is utilised which produces 94PS at 6,000rpm, slightly more than the outgoing 1.3-litre unit. Torque is also improved to 118Nm at 4,800rpm.

Fuel consumption on the combined cycle is now 56.5mpg for the manual transmission model, an improvement of 7.8mpg over the previous 1.3-litre unit.

A 1.3-litre diesel engine is planned for UK introduction in early 2011; this engine emits 109g/km (down from 119g/km) and has an impressive combined fuel consumption of 67.3mpg, an improvement on the already highly credible 62.8mpg from the outgoing Swift DDiS.

Full details on UK specification and pricing will be announced later in the summer.

The latest three and five door models now feature a cleaner and more sophisticated bodyline at the rear without the door mounted spare wheel. This latest change gives Grand Vitara a more urban look together with a 200mm reduction in overall length. In place of the spare wheel is a tyre repair sealant and inflationary device.

Grand Vitara retains it’s full off road capability though and is one of the few compact 4×4’s in it’s class to include electronically switchable high and low gear ratios and differential lock as standard equipment.

Available on five door models only, the 1.9 DDiS engine has been revised to meet Euro 5 regulations which has resulted in fewer emissions than before at 179g/km (down from 185g/km). Economy has been improved too with the five-door now achieving 41.5mpg on the combined cycle. 1.6 and 2.4-litre petrol engines are available for three door models and 2.4 petrol for the five door.

Suzuki’s highly acclaimed zero per cent finance offers have been extended and are now available until the end of September 2010. Grand Vitara models require a 50 per cent deposit and monthly payments are from £214, payable over three years.

The all-new Swift is positioned as Suzuki’s latest world strategic model and makes developments in styling, impact safety, driving performance, handling, improved fuel consumption and significantly lower emissions.

Extensive use of higher strength steel makes the new bodyshell lighter and stiffer than before as well as offering refinement in underbody design. This latest body design has also helped improve impact safety for pedestrians as well as occupants.

Increased track and larger diameter wheels with lower profile tyres allow for even better handling than the already highly acclaimed outgoing Swift that first went on sale in 2005.

The interior design now has a more dynamic feel, featuring black as its keynote colour with accents of silver throughout the car.

New Swift has grown slightly in length (+90mm) with a 50mm increase in wheelbase; full dimensions are as follows:

<colgroup>
<col width="140" />
<col width="222" />
<col /></colgroup>

New Swift

Previous Swift

Length

3,850mm

3,760mm

Width

1,695mm

1,690mm

Height

1,510mm

1,500mm

Wheelbase

2,430mm

2,380mm

Front Track

1,480mm (16-inch wheels)

1,470mm

Rear Track

1,485mm (16 inch wheels)

1,480mm

For the powertrain; a new 1.2-litre petrol engine incorporating Dual VVT (Variable intake and exhaust valve timing) is utilised which produces 94PS at 6,000rpm, slightly more than the outgoing 1.3-litre unit. Torque is also improved to 118Nm at 4,800rpm.

Fuel consumption on the combined cycle is now 56.5mpg for the manual transmission model, an improvement of 7.8mpg over the previous 1.3-litre unit.

Emissions are much lower as well; the new 1.2-litre engine with manual transmission produces just 116g/km on the combined cycle; representing a 24g/km or 17 per cent improvement over the 1.3. An optional automatic transmission will be available for the petrol engine from launch.

A 1.3-litre diesel engine will also become available and planned for UK introduction in early 2011; this engine emits 109g/km (down from 119g/km) and has an impressive combined fuel consumption of 67.3mpg, an improvement on an already highly credible 62.8mpg from the outgoing Swift DDiS. This Euro 5 engine has more precise engine management than before with reduced levels of mechanical friction for smoother running and flexibility.

A further selection of images will be available later this month and details on full UK specification and pricing will be announced later in the summer.

The Jimny’s are at the centre of beach patrol activity, and with its simple to operate push button four wheel drive system it allows lifeguards to be close to the water’s edge for long periods; reducing their response time considerably. The vehicles are additionally equipped with everything necessary to carry out regular lifeguarding duties and also provide members of the public with a visual contact point on the beach. The Jimny’s are working in close collaboration with the inshore rescue boats and jet ski rescue water craft that are also operated by the charity.

On hand to assist the Jimny in the sand is Suzuki’s Drive Select 4×4 system which features a transfer box with high or low ratios as well as the ability to engage high ratio while travelling at speeds of up to 62mph. Jimny is fundamentally designed to cope with all off road conditions with its 190mm ground clearance and generous approach and departure angles.

The Jimny celebrates its 40th Anniversary this month and was the world’s first compact 4×4 back in 1970 when it was introduced as an affordable and lightweight but fully capable on and off road vehicle. It was powered back then by a 360cc two stroke engine and has evolved to meet the changing needs of customers while retaining its core values of lightness and fully fledged 4×4 capability. Jimny has a devoted following of 4×4 owners across 188 Countries and Regions globally with more than 2.48 million global sales to date.

The current Jimny was first introduced in 1998 and utilises a flexible 1.3-litre four cylinder engine, offering 85PS with official combined fuel consumption of 39.2mpg and CO2 emissions of 171g/km, making it one of the least polluting 4X4’s in its class.

Jimny is available from £10,995 for the SZ3 model and includes metallic paint, air conditioning, front fog lamps, roof rails and remote central locking as standard equipment.

Swift Plug-in Hybrid is ideal for drivers who travel low mileages every day and is designed to be driven primarily on electric power with its compact 660cc petrol engine used as a back up. It is also equipped with a generator to quickly charge the lithium-ion batteries when capacity level drops. Further recharging when parked is by means of a simple domestic plug socket.

The Swift plug-in Hybrid differs from some other Hybrid vehicles as it relies on its 54Kw (73PS) electric motor to travel distances of up to 20km; resulting in greatly reduced emissions. The type of small cubic capacity petrol engine used for the Swift Hybrid is similar to that fitted to Suzuki’s compact dimension and low tax ‘Kei’ cars in Japan; a sector where Suzuki has much experience and success.

Taking a leap forward into the larger ‘D’ segment; Suzuki will also exhibit the Kizashi Saloon for the first time in Europe. The Kizashi is the new flagship vehicle in the Suzuki range and will be on sale in the Swiss market this year. The Kizashi recently went on sale in Japan and North America and will also be launched in Australia in May.

The Kizashi Sports saloon is powered by a 2.4-litre petrol engine with latest design CVT transmission and intelligent i-AWD four-wheel drive technology as standard equipment.

The Geneva show will also premiere some styling changes to Suzuki’s highly successful three and five door Grand Vitara models with both models now incorporating a redesigned tailgate without spare wheel. The new more stylish shape makes the vehicle more suitable for City driving without compromising the original lifestyle and 4×4 capability of the model – now in its 22nd year and with global sales approaching three million. The 2010 Grand Vitara without rear mounted spare wheel will be on sale in the UK in July.

Suzuki’s SX4 is a distinctive five-door hatchback that blends the characteristics of sporty compacts exemplified by the Swift, with those of lightweight SUVs such as the Grand Vitara, to create an exciting small car alternative. The popular model has been revised for 2010 with numerous styling and interior changes as well as an introduction of a cleaner and more powerful 1.6-litre petrol engine.

The resulting ‘sport X-over’ combines responsive driving dynamics, 4×4 capability, high levels of practicality and styling that suggests a freestyle approach to life.

The UK line-up offers two engine options – one diesel and one petrol. A new 120PS 1.6 litre VVT petrol engine is available in either SZ3 or SZ4 2WD (front-wheel drive) format or as a 4×4 SZ5 model with selectable/automatic four-wheel drive. The 1.6-litre DDiS will be available in SZ4 trim from April 2010, together with the SZ5 4X4 petrol.

The Suzuki SX4 is styled to look good in any setting. Fusing the dynamism of SUVs with the elegance of passenger cars gives poise and presence beyond the model’s compact size. The 2010 model features a redesigned front bumper and grill together with new design 16-inch alloy wheels for SZ4 and SZ5 models.

Three model grades are available: SZ3; SZ4 and SZ5 which is available for the 4×4 petrol model. All models have a bold SUV appearance with wheel arch extensions, side under protection mouldings and front and rear skid plates.

For the interior, the lower centre dashboard panel has been revised and incorporates a new display; housing the audio, air conditioning and other controls. On SZ4 models the large dials of the fully automatic air conditioning have ring lights, which make them easier to see and use, while adding to the overall refined quality. The new design instrument cluster incorporates a driver information display for average and instantaneous fuel consumption, fuel range and outside temperature. The steering wheel audio controls are now illuminated for added convenience.

On board refinement and comfort is enhanced in the latest model with the fitment of cushioned armrests in the doors; additional sound insulation throughout the cabin together with new design carpets; all helping lower NVH levels.

On the outside; a larger engine under shield cover together with improved transmission damping and increased rigidity of body parts have also been incorporated.

Specification

SX4 is well equipped as standard with the SZ3 model offering six airbags; remote central locking with deadlocks, air conditioning, MP3 / WMA compatible CD tuner with eight speakers, four electric windows, driver information display and illuminated steering wheel mounted audio controls.

The SZ4 model adds fog lamps; 16-inch alloy wheels, side body protection and heated door mirrors. Petrol engine SZ4 models have an even higher specification with keyless entry and start; dashboard centre speaker and automatic air conditioning.

On sale in April, the top of the range SZ5 model adds i- AWD (intelligent – All-Wheel Drive), MP3 / WMA compatible six CD changer and rear privacy glass,

Pure driving exhilaration

1.6 litre petrol and 1.6 litre diesel units
The Suzuki SX4 was engineered from the outset to offer all-wheel drive capability, yet still deliver sharp, dynamic performance. The inherent qualities of sporty hatchbacks are evident in the car’s responsiveness and comfortable long-distance travel, while Suzuki’s extensive experience in 4WD technology delivers all-wheel traction that is more than adequate for everyday situations.

The revised 1.6-litre Euro 5 compliant petrol engine features drive by wire throttle control, a new variable valve timing and variable intake system for enhanced driveability and response. It powers the 2WD models with manual transmission from nought to 62 mph in 10.7 seconds – 11.5 seconds for the 4×4 model. In combined cycle driving, the 2WD manual models return 45.6mpg, a 10 per cent improvement over the previous engine, while the 4×4 is only slightly behind, returning 43.5mpg, a very respectable figure for a petrol-powered 4×4.

The 1.6-litre petrol engine has a new cylinder head and block which offer improved cooling performance and improved ‘knock’ or detonation control limits; the higher power output (120PS vs 107PS) over the previous engine has been achieved by extending the intake and exhaust valve lift with variable valve timing and utilising a variable inlet manifold.

The variable intake system is similar to that used in the Grand Vitara 2.4-litre engine in which rotary valves in the intake manifold change the length of the intake ports according to engine speed. The result is improved intake efficiency throughout the rev range.

The 1.6-litre DDiS engine, sourced from Peugeot, delivers 90PS and 215Nm of torque at just 1,750rpm to ensure lively, flexible performance and strong fuel economy. Mated to a five-speed manual gearbox and driving through the front wheels, it achieves an impressive 57.6mpg (combined cycle) and CO2 emissions of just 129g/km. Nought to 62mph acceleration is achieved in 12.2 seconds, with a top speed (where permitted) of 109mph.

With just 25 machines available, all reservations will be handled exclusively through www.imgsx-r.com from mid-day on the 23rd January and operated on a first come, first served basis. The reservation system will be open until all 25 machines have been reserved.

Featuring a unique retro colour scheme (a tribute to the 1996 GSX-R750), a Yoshimura silencer and commemorative individually numbered top yoke plaque and certificate, the exclusive GSX-R750 will have a recommended retail price of £10,099.

Suzuki GB sales and marketing director, David Taylor commented, “With such an exclusive model, a web reservation process was the only fair way for interested customers to get a chance of securing this bike. While the initial process is completed online, successful applicants will be subsequently contacted by Suzuki GB PLC, with eventual delivery taking place via their nominated dealer.”

With the GSX-R750 the first in a series of exclusive models to be released in 2010 to celebrate the 25th anniversary, interested customers are urged to visit www.imgsx-r.com promptly, where full details of the reservation process for this and future models will be announced, as well as all other anniversary news throughout the year.

Launched in the spring of 2009, the Gladius 650 replaced the hugely popular SV650, going on to score highly with both press and customers.

Featuring a trellis-styled steel frame, curved bodywork and ancillaries along with bold colour options, the Gladius brought unique style to the Japanese naked middleweight segment.

But it’s more than just aesthetics that have made the Gladius an instant hit. With a chassis and bodywork designed to be slender, a low seat-height of just 785mm and strong attention to detail, the Gladius 650 is one entry-level machine that delivers both form and function.

With a recommended retail price of just £4,949 on the road, its final blow is the ability to bring great design, performance and usability to every type of rider.

For more information on the Gladius, visit www.suzuki-gb.co.uk.
