ALL-NEW FORD C-MAX RANGE

GrandC-MAX_02.jpgThe all-new Ford C-MAX family provides two of the star attractions for Ford Motor Company at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show.
Developed as part of the company’s ambitious global C-segment strategy and with a bold and dynamic two-model line-up, the C-MAX family brings new levels of style and desirability to the compact Multi-Activity Vehicle (MAV) market.

Ford’s C-segment MAV customers now have the choice of a new 5-seat C-MAX or a distinctive new 7-seat Grand C-MAX, which features twin sliding doors and innovative seat design to provide outstanding space and flexibility. At Geneva, the dynamic interior of the 5-seat C-MAX is revealed for the first time.

The all-new Ford C-MAX range introduces a number of advanced new technologies to the compact MAV class, focused on enhanced comfort, safety and sustainability, including the availability of new and powerful yet highly fuel-efficient low-CO2 Ford EcoBoost petrol engines.
Like the recently announced next-generation Ford Focus, the new C-MAX models are based on Ford’s new, global C-segment vehicle platform. Both vehicles are presented at Geneva prior to their European sales launch later this year, while the 7-seat Grand C-MAX will also be offered to customers in North America from late 2011.

“The positive reception given to the new C-MAX line-up when we previewed it at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show reflects the growing strength and appeal of our new C-car product range,” said John Fleming, Chairman and CEO, Ford of Europe. “With the introduction of the spacious Grand C-MAX as our first 7-seater in this segment alongside the stylish new 5-seat model, we believe Ford now offers a class-leading choice of exciting and practical family vehicles for C-car customers.”

Choice of Sporty 5-seater or Stylish 7-seater
The all-new Ford C-MAX range for Europe offers C-segment MAV customers a choice of two alternative and distinctive models according to their needs – the sporty 5-seat C-MAX or the spacious new 7-seat Grand C-MAX.
“The introduction of the Grand C-MAX takes Ford into a new area of the market and allows us to meet the requirements of a whole new group of customers, as around 50 percent of compact MAV buyers want 6 or 7-seat capability ” Fleming added. “Grand C-MAX will be the ideal choice with the versatility and driving quality that Ford C-MAX has always been known for combined with the additional capacity they regularly need for their family.”

To deliver the extra space, the Grand C-MAX has a 140mm longer wheelbase, and is also 40mm higher than the C-MAX. Within its 4.52m overall length, it packs plenty of room for seven passengers, or for five occupants with a generous amount of luggage.
The 5-seat C-MAX has very similar exterior dimensions to the current model, retaining the traditional C-MAX virtues of room and practicality within its attractive new kinetic design silhouette. The new model will reinforce its appeal to customers of all ages who value its comfortable accommodation, high seating position, flexibility and compact footprint.
