New five-door Sportback version of Audi premium subcompact further enhances appeal with five seats and greater versatility.
Five-door, five-seat versatility meets exemplary quality, efficiency and technological sophistication in the new A1 Sportback, an even more user-friendly addition to the acclaimed premium subcompact range that will become available in the UK later this month and will reach its first customers here in the spring of 2012. Carrying a modest £560 premium over each equivalent three-door A1 in exchange for greater convenience and five-seat capability, the A1 Sportback will be priced from £13,980 OTR.
Although its compact, city-friendly dimensions very closely follow those of the three-door A1, the A1 Sportback is actually six millimetres taller and six millimetres wider, and inside offers slightly more head room and shoulder room as a result. It also makes provision for an extra passenger – up to three can pass through its rear doors and take a seat, each of them protected by a headrest and full three-point seatbelt. Read more…

The Audi A4 is about to raise its stock yet again as new generation Saloon, Avant and allroad versions of the accomplished premium compact executive adopt an even more sharply tailored look and a blue chip portfolio of new or revised engines which pay even greater economy dividends. Due with their first UK customers in March 2012, the new generation A4 ranges will carry a premium of just £200 over their outgoing equivalents, despite significant styling enhancements and efficiency gains of up to 21 per cent. Prices will start at under £24,000, and orders can be taken from today (Tuesday November 8).
Efficiency was of course at front of mind during the redevelopment of this eighth generation A4 range, so as a starting point all nine of the turbo charged and directly injected engines that power it are linked without exception to start/stop and recuperation systems. The front-wheel drive TT RS powered by an engine with an output of about 279 kW (380 HP) has been developed by quattro GmbH in collaboration with Technical Development of AUDI AG for the SP4T class of the VLN Endurance Championship and extensively tested for about one year. After class victory at the 24-hour race on the Nürburgring-Nordschleife in June, the testing phase culminated in an impressive performance at the 6-hour race on the world’s toughest race track at the end of August: the first pole position of a front-wheel drive vehicle in the history of the VLN and overall victory ahead of rivals with higher power ratings.

A highly-charged atmosphere is guaranteed on the Audi stand at the 2011 Frankfurt Show as the futuristic A2 concept is confirmed as the third all-electric Audi design study to take the limelight for the Vorsprung durch Technik brand. Although more familiar in form than the two radically styled urban concept electric studies, the four-seat A2 concept is similarly forward-looking. Its exceptionally weight-conscious and space-efficient packaging is achieved using state-of-the-art multi-material hybrid construction, and its space-age specification includes contact-free battery charging, ‘by-wire’ steering and braking, LED matrix lighting technology and a semi-autonomous running mode.
